This was Voctave's introduction to the world at large. Millions came to hear Kirstin of PTX fame and were blown away by Voctave, becoming instant fans.

The high soprano, Kate, IS a Disney Princess. She performs shows at Disney singing the songs. Voctave is comprised of world class musicians. I also like how they represent/look like everyday people (gender, race, age, body type, etc.) and tailor to a more "seasoned" audience. They are so accessible.

I love seeing people's reaction to this. They start out kind of apprehensive, not knowing what to expect, and then you can see on their face, their heart melt, being drawn into it. And it just builds up and up. I wish I could hear it for the first time again ❤

So, Pentatonix were on the show the Sing Off and won it back in 2011 (season 3), the following year they came back as performers and Jeremy Michael Lewis was in an group that was competing and that is when he and Kirstie met. They became friends and then started dating and not long after this video was released he proposed to her in Paris. They split up not long before the wedding and went their separate ways. The group singing with them here is called Voctave and if you have not heard them before you will definitely want to add them to your acapella group playlist, they are phenomenal!! The high soprano in the black dress is Kate Lott, she is a legend, but she is not the only one in the group who will blow you away. Look for their Disney Princess Medley.

Jamey Ray is the founder of Voctave. He does all of their arrangements and he is a master of intricate harmonies. He is second from the right in the burgundy shirt. I had the privilege of seeing the first soprano, Kate Lott, perform with the Voices of Liberty at EPCOT in Disney World last month. She was truly kind and generous to this unknown fan and stopped to talk with me after her performance. Thank you for a great reaction.

Yeah, I just learned from Voctave's Facebook post that in one spot, when the group is singing "your" in the song "Climb Every Mountain" from The Sound of Music, the 11 member group is singing an 11-part harmony!

Other great videos (some are audio only): Disney Princess Medley, Great Movie Medley, disney Showstoppers & Disney Villains & Heroes Medley (both feature men). Also: You Will Be Found, Somewhere, Prince of Egypt Medley. Their arranger also sings in group. (In this video - he is secomd from right, Jamey Ray)

Kirstin was on Broadway, in the musical Kinky Boots. Jeremy was on The Sing Off the year after Pentatonix won it (Home Free won the year he was on). He performed with the University of Kentucky AcoUstiKats. He and Kirstin were a couple when this was performed, but they have since broken up.

Voctave also did background vocals for Pentatonix on their last Christmas album on "Once Upon a December" (from the movie Anastasia). All I know is that Jeremy very suspiciously became engaged to someone else shortly after they broke up. I think some of the songs Kirstin wrote on "The Lucky Ones" album may have been from that relationship. Regardless, she seems super happy with her current boyfriend, Ben.

Voctave....All past and or current members of the Voices Of Liberty at Epcot in Disney World Fl. They hang their hat on not using auto-tune when they sing. Their live performances sound like their recordings /videos. The Great Movie Medley where they sing instrumentals, all John Williams movie themes is amazing. Their Christmas stuff is what Christmas is made of. Check out Oh Come All Ye Faithful.. an ending you will never forget. You will add them to your car's playlist for sure.

Jeremy is part of a podcast called wild til 9 with his girlfriend LauraDIY. The PTX fandom kind of vilified him after their breakup. He doesnt talk about Kirstin on the pod, but he seems mature and has some really interesting stories about his life and current relationship. It's a really funny podcast, definitely for mature audiences only.

Did you miss the beatboxing? Because they don't have any. A bigger group and slightly more "theatrical" than Pentatonix or Home Free (VoicePlay can give them a run for their 'theatrical' money) but never a beatboxer and you don't even miss it. Voctave's group size does change a little, getting slightly larger with time (was an octet and now up to 11-ish at times). You'll enjoy anything you choose from them and it's all good. Lots of Disney (yes, they hail from Florida and the theme parks in the Orlando area) and Christmas. I always love their sound but "The Great Movie Medley" was the one that stunned me. BTW, her name is Kate Lott and she is incredible. Welcome aboard!

It is difficult to come here and comment on a negative...but...here I go. The group as a whole is dead on with their harmonies, no problems there at all. I do think, however, that they are too loud when the soloists are featured. Their solo parts get buried in a wall of sound. No question about the talents in the group at all, they are all exceptional. For me, it's like a drum and bugle corp. Each section, horns, drums, etc, gets a chance to shine and then, at the end of the number/show whatever, they all crash together in that wall of sound, but the horns are on top of that wall, blasting out the finale and sending chills up and down my spine. Again, NOT knocking Voctave, they are superb! My ONLY complaint is they bury the soloists with their wall when the group should be a bit less loud. Maybe a mix could help with some of that by bringing the mic feeds of the soloists up a bit more.

You can’t go wrong with any videos featuring Kirstin & Voctave. However, IMO for your very first reaction to Voctave you should have picked another song featuring Voctave only. This arrangement has them featured as background singers and though they are remarkable in this capacity they rival any a cappella group on their own. I agree, currently there are 4 main a cappella groups. Each group has their own music style and niche market but to me Voctave is the best of the 4 even without a beat boxer. This might be because there is no one better than Jamie Ray at arranging and composing a cappella music.

Sorry, but I can't watch this. That Jeremy was a real piece of work (to put it mildly) and he broke Kirstie's heart pretty badly. She literally is one of the sweetest people in the world and he took advantage of her in just about the worst way possible. Most of the songs on her solo album were most likely about him. I can't watch anything he's a part of anymore. At least she's away from that trash and has a good guy (Ben, who is Pentatonix's videographer) in her life now.
