Very timely message for me. I'm currently on crutches with a lot of pain -- and God's not healing me as I want. So, I specifically prayed I would NOT be angry with God and instead I would thank Him for all the good He has given me. Because otherwise I would get angry at God. Anger is my go-to emotion and it's time I focused on gratitude towards God when things don't go my way.

Amen it's happened to me many times. Especially as a teenager wirh abandonment and being almost homeless and throughout the next three decades it's been hard. I never blamed God. I prayed and thank him to get me through the issue I had. I don't know why things have happened to me. I guess I don't need to know. My faith is the same and sometimes it's stronger and sometimes it's less. Currently my faith have remained strong. I'll pay for you my brother in Christ. I'm Jesus mighty name amen and amen.

Great one. I always felt like the older brother too because it is so easy to admit you're a sinner of "minor" sins... to think yes, we are all sinners, but I never did this really bad thing, I never did that unimaginable thing, I did as I was told. I think we've all had a time where we saw someone receive a blessing we just knew he or she didn't "deserve" and felt spiteful in response.

Powerful! I folllow Pastor MacArthur and that’s how I discovered Voddie but, this is one of the greatest sermons I’ve ever heard. I struggle with turning my life over like I know is right and can feel it when listening to a Message like this. Pastor Macarthur was hard to listen to for years because like the Scripture says, it can be like medicine, isn’t it? That is just a perfect example of how amazing the Scriptures are that a book were supposed to believe was written in the Stone Age and are arguably the greatest writings we have. A truly timeless Book. I just love Voddie and believe he is taking the mantle as the most powerful Preacher left after MacArthur is getting ready to drift off into the sunset.

I like the message, but I'd be a little slower to apply it to Gentiles. Both brothers are members of the old covenant. Us Gentiles today are brought into relationship through a different covenant. Therefore, relationships via different promises don't directly correspond, and the parallel can not be made. I think it's more accurate to say, us as Gentiles are NEITHER brother in application since we aren't in the story yet. Paul later says we were in the no hope category, no relationship category, no promise category. Therefore, it's hard to fit a Gentile into the prodigal son story.
@texsis2112 Жыл бұрын
Makes sense! Yet God will not leave us nor forsake us when we stray now & then, Once we believe in Jesus. Wouldn't it fit then? I believe in Rightly Divided preaching yet Voddie is good helping us to understand complete Bible not just Paul's Epistles.
@toddcote4904 Жыл бұрын
@Texsis No, I don't think it fits even after we as Gentiles come to Christ. That's actually more consistent using Voddie's logic, that parables prove one main point. I think because of how the scriptures are constantly misused, we have a propensity to hearing ourselves or finding ourselves in every story, ie "I know the plans I have for you..." But this is not the case. Any application made and applied to us, especially as Gentiles, needs to be done through exegeting the passage, then extracting the truth in the story. For example, the father stays home the entire time, whereas the good shepherd travels to seek and to save that (us) which is lost. This is a principle of election, since we clearly are not in covenant with Christ yet, which necessarily means we can't be a son yet. We've yet to be adopted. Hence, I conclude that Voddie is correct with teaching parables as to having 1 main point. Therefore, you can't fit Gentiles categorically into the prodigal son story.

WHY DON'T YOU GIVE ME THE SCRIPTURE ==> YOU THINK IS OUR GOSPEL ? WHERE DO YOU THINK THE BIBLE TELLS US => HOW WE ARE SAVED ?
@tudra2 жыл бұрын
@Rowtheboat nice camber ok then, lets put it this way, you must NOT come to Jesus to be saved lol (staying away means still doing something) BUT Considering your point of understanding is that either Jesus is a Liar when He said: Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28 see also John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out....etc.... or Jesus is declaring TRUTH, and your understanding of "DOING THE WORKS OF THE LAW" is WROOOONGGG!!! - consider at least LOGICS!
@13kimosabi132 жыл бұрын
@@tudra YOUR LOGIC IS FAULTY !! IT LEAKS LIKE A SIEVE !!! 1. JESUS DIDN'T COME TO US ==> read Matthew 15:24 => HE came TO THE JEWS. 2. Since Jesus didn't come to us ==> HE certainly isn't speaking TO US in the 4 GOSPELS ! 3. Logically, the BOC wasn't even started/formed yet => so again, HE's not speaking TO US. 4. Jesus did answer the question for the Jewish people (the chosen people) as how to be saved and you can read it in Matthew 19:16-17 5. We (Gentiles) weren't part of those covenants of promise => Read Eph. 2:11-12 6. The 4 Gospels and the Book of ACTS => show us the TRANSITION from the OLD SYSTEM and they prepare us for the NEW SYSTEM => of GRACE ALONE W/O WORKS (Read Eph. 2:8-9). 7. Jesus isn't giving our gospel in the 4 Gospels => if HE had, GOD's plan wouldn't have worked => read 1 Cor 2:7-8 8. You foolishly take scripture from the PAST and try to apply them today. You also, very foolishly, take the BOC and try to FORCE US into scriptures from another AGE => NOT MEANT TO BE TO US ! BOTH ARE WRONG. YOU DO IT BECAUSE YOU DON'T RIGHTLY DIVIDE GOD's WORD ===> as 2 Tim 2:15 kjv states we should. Not everything in your Bible IS TO YOU or ABOUT YOU. It's all FOR YOU to learn and understand and utilize. BUT NOT EVERYTHING IN THE BIBLE APPLIES TO US NOW. You live in chaos and confusion because YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT PARTS OF SCRIPTURE ARE TO US => NOW ==> and what parts of scripture are NOT !!! SMH.

@@mitchellc4 first of all notice the word accompanied to *God* the word *Father* repedeatly used by the Apostles, His God and Father. That, plus you forgot to mention more verses like: (Mat 27:46) And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? John 10:30) I and my Father are one. (etc...) John 1:14) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (Ioan 8:58) Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."
