Vogel Engineering Self Propelled Hay Mower Discbine

This was our first field test run on 4/17/12 in Michigan. The hay mower was built by Vogel Engineering for Brent Maust using his 3 disc bines and Vogel's custom built the power unit using John Deere power. It has a cutting width of 37-1/2 feet and is 15 feet when folded up to go down the road.

to the people yelling big m or cougar.....if you would like to shell out $300,000-450,000 i'm sure they'd be more than happy to use it, HOWEVER total parts cost for this is probably around $100,000-150,000 and therefore a hell of alot cheaper, could 4 wheel steering make it better? yes, but the price difference alone already makes it far better....

Not bad, but I would do a couple things differently. 3 mowers are fine. But set it up like the Claas Cougar or a grader. Put the weight between the axles and/or shorten the distance between the cab and mowers. It seems there is a weight balance battle between the engine and mowers.

no need for that lump of Steel. Claas Cougar and Krone BIG M are at least the same size and even bigger. Plus you can run them on the road with max 3.3m width !!!

Krone Big M is a Big POS. Not to mention those machines are outrageously expensive. Guys can run a few sets of triple mowers into the ground before justifying the cost of a SP machine.

I like it but, it needs to turn sharper. 4 wheel steering is a must and you could build that thing to be a lot shorter. Also, What is the cost of something like this when compared to Krone or Class competitors? Just some food for thought. Have you sold any yet? Or, is this just for you?

Krone Big M is one of the biggest pieces of garbage made. A lot of used ones sitting on lots that can't get sold. Too expensive and too problematic.
