The only problem with dual drives is the clearance issues that come with such a design. 😃👍

Yup I was thinking the same thing👍

@@ScoutCrafter Yes, but they are handy when you have the space, especially if you're working two different size fasteners and keep both size sockets on the ratchet.

Looks like Proto made Ratchets for Vogel .. Vogel could have been a brand name for a Government Contract ??? The best part is you can take out 3/8 . 1/2 Ratchet gear and put in a 3/8 drive gear in its place .. Great review never heard of Vogel brand Take care Mr Ratchetman enjoy your day

Yeah that works if you were looking for something with a slimmer profile 👍

I never really looked into the story on these but have seen them, and they're not the most common. I would definitely just put a 5249 rebuild kit in this thing if I had one.

Yeah I don’t know much about then either. I did see a thread on Garage Journal mentioning them🤔

Doesn't matter but you reassembled it with the 3/8" on the selector switch side. Thanks for the video

You are correct. It would work either way.

Interesting. I'm wondering now, who made the first dual drive size single anvil ratchet.

Nice condition. 10 inch handle on a 3/8 mechanism held up pretty well. Modern.

Patent applied for 1955, granted 1957 to Irwin Vogel......Don't know what the association with Proto is.

I have seen other ratchets were they left out mentioning “By Proto” on the plate🤔

I have this ratchet and is missing a screw where could i get one?
@Roger_Icce6 ай бұрын
It's probably just a common size machine screw, try your local hardware store. If not, there are many online sources. You might even find one at your local auto parts store. Any competent machine shop could get or make one if all else fails, but you will pay for it. Then again you could try getting one directly from Proto, they should at least be able to tell you what type and size screw you need.

I’ve had luck in the past at Homedepot. Take the other screw along with you and compare it to what they have on the shelf. You might find the screw but it might be to long. You can cut it down a little ti the right length.
