The Crows That Laid Golden Eggs I have a theory I'd like to put to the test: Crows and ravens, common to most countries, are very intelligent birds, and known tool makers. They also like befriending humans and are easily trained using food rewards (imagine their excitement, a lifetime of grasshoppers and lizards must get boring). Imagine making friends with the local birds around your claim (or frequented gold producing area) by tossing out morsels from your compost. Then through repition and reward (using bits of gold panned or purchased), educate them about exactly what you're looking for, a SHINY pebble easily spotted by a sharp eyed crow. Imagine, later... Their scouts have seen you coming and alerted the murder (what a flock of crows is called, ravens form a conspiracy) and when you arive at your claim you find your well hidden, designated collection box overflowing with shiny pebbles... They have a lot of time on their hands... I mean claws... And imagine them all standing around bright eyed as you open the can of premium oysters they deserve, and remember: variety is the spice of life. Crows have generational memories, they pass on knowledge of 'Crow Friends'. Crows also teach other crows. This is all valid scientific information, you can verify it. Brilliant, eh? You're welcome! *Don't start with oysters, work your way up as they improve, giving them greater incentive to please you. *, -)

That looks like a march fly and are found all around Australia, even in the middle at Alice Springs. The best thing to catch them is the old fashioned plastic fly swatter. They are tough and often when you swat them, it doesn't kill them. So pick any up and rip a wing off, then let them go. That way, your revenge will be to know, ants will get them and rip them to pieces, because they will now be walks, not flies.

In Canada there is a small fly called black flies. They bite, they are in the billions in spring. I have seen a moose come charging out of the bush and dive into a lake because of them little biting bastards. And then if that was not enough there are no-see-ums, that bite. as the name implies, you can barely see them. Then there are sand flees, don't sleep on the beaches near the ocean. There are deer flies, moose flies and gnat flies, they all bite. SOB's Guess all creatures are there for a reason. Perhaps they assist the gold fairy and prevent the prospector from getting all the gold. Ah prospecting, you gotta love it!!

If your finding magnetic gold, that's fools gold. Gold has a less if not none iron concentrate, so it doesn't stick to a magnet, however, fools gold has a very high iron content, so it does stick to a magnet...
