Wonderful Reaction! I just wanted to let you know, today Diana had her second audition in University (GITIS) and she passed it successfully and entered the main exams - it will be 1-solo singing, 2-acting, 3-interview. We continue to keep our fingers crossed for her, but i am sure she will be successful this time. During the second season of the "You're Super" show she was already promised by another art college that she could start studying there. After the show, however, this offer was withdrawn, and it was then said that the teachers (or jury) there did not like her voice, or that she was not talented enough. That caused an uproar among Diana's fans. Probably another case of corruption like on "The Voice Kids" ..

You reacted to this video previously in July 2020 when DIANA ANKUDINOVA was 17 years old. DIANA will be 19 in May of 2022 so she's had an additional two years of training and experience behind her. If you really want to see where her vocal ability has progressed to, you really have to listen and see her perform her cover of the Elvis Presley classic "Can't Help Falling In Love". With this performance, Diana has now laid claim to this song and it is now hers. It is also very obvious in "Can't Help Falling In Love" that Diana has done a lot of work in the last 2 years with her voice teacher on her upper registers as the video will show you. And finally, Diana's lower range has gotten a fuller and rounder sound and she demonstrates so much more vocal maturity. As you said, Diana has somewhere between 5 to 7 years before she reaches her full vocal maturity. When that does happen, Diana Ankudinova will be a wonder to behold and a vocal force to be reckoned with.

This is pretty much a near flawless performance from Diana, from her perfect vocal control to her exotic make-up and stage presence, to her killer death stares straight into the camera that sends a shiver down your spine. Why she isn't being hounded by record companies begging to represent her I just can't imagine (though who knows, maybe she is and isn't bothering with them yet?).

Diana is focused on her studies. She successfully finished school and will continue her education. Diana says she receives offers from producers, but education is the main thing for her now. And of course she will perfect her vocals 🙂

Great analysis, Christie. She added those high notes, yet retained that unique timbre. Prior to Rechenka at age 13 she sang a song in Spanish that will blow you out of the water. It’s called “me voy” and she sings it in Spanish with such emotional impact and heartwrencing sadness that professional vocalists around the world that watched and listened were speechless. “ I can remember you saying an “ old soul” decades beyond her years. If ever the phrase 'Owns The Stage' applied, it is with Diana. A question for you, Have you ever researched her background as a young child?? Abused, abandoned at the age of about 2 or 3 on the road with a broken collar bone and unable to speak. The family that adopted her loved her deeply and decided that music might be the thing to bring her around. Tragic, but she has definitely climbed above the pain.

In metal those eastern exotic modes and scales are common. Harmonic minor, Phrygian, Phrygian Dominant gives that middle eastern to Spanish style sounds. Hirojoshi and Kokin joshi gives that very Japanese sound. Its great to hear a pop singer(?) throw in those exotic runs. I know there are other pop singers around the world that mix in their cultural music. It keeps things fresh and exciting to listen to. Diana is amazing and I think she'll have a long career ahead of her.

Dianna works very hard with her vocal coach. There is a video showing her working to raise her range a couple of tones higher. She said she didn't want to be stuck in a certain range. Listen to Vibes upper register work. Love your reaction. Keep them coming!

Re the movement: I have seen clips where Diana can move (in fact in one she does rudimentary tap - Putting on the Ritz in the style of the Dutch singer Taco) but, as you noted, she can pour meaning and emotion into your soul directly from her voice. I have read much on Russian sites and many seem to find her refreshing because she does not use artifices to get noticed i.e prancing around, wearing skimpy costumes etc. What you get with this amazing young lady is what you see and hear and that is enough for many of us. I'm not claiming, but Diana's vocal range is D3 A5. Gradually, with the help of vocal trainers, she raises it and strengthens her higher notes. Unfortunately, she doesn't have many new songs or live performances showing this. In her new songs (not covers), with the possible exception of "La Vogue", she (and the composers) work with her lower register, where she feels more than confident. Perhaps, I hope so, that she is just saving her (yet) unfortified voice. Her high notes are magical. Understand correctly, I'm in love with her voice. It is something for which there is no definition. It's just magic, witchcraft, shamanism ... Excuse me.

I am fairly new to the world of Диана Анкудинова, but have seen this amazing performance before. However I am new to your channel. A little late as usual. I like your format of showing the clips after the full performance to emphasize your points. More than that just watching you watching the video can not help but smile. In fact I would say it was hard to tell who had the bigger smile, you or Диана. That plus your words really show how much you enjoy both singing and performing. No need for Диана to move around as both her arms, head movements, and eyes draw you into her performance. Great camera work both for the show and your reaction. She certainly has a very unique voice. Very 'full' and rich and so very mature for such a young one. Her cheeks are still that of a barely-out-of-childhood and yet her voice ... Oh brother! This is a fateful song for Diana. Diana has been singing since the age of 5 on stage, but everyone learned about her when she sang this song at the age of 14 at the vocal competition "You are super!". There were 2 singers and 2 producers on the jury. Diana won the competition. As a bonus from a member of the jury, she received an apartment in Moscow as a gift. One of my fave tracks, I've never heard this version despite knowing of her. You are spot on when you say her instincts are so 'wise' but also broad, because she sound well exercised in multiple classical and modern styles of music and voice in terms of the way she improvises timings and her vocal run styles being modal rather than scalic.
