As others have said, it was considered somewhat of a "national scandal" that they did not turn. The judges did ask her to sing a second song after this and that wowed them even more. I heard that the applause was so long that they had to cut the cameras - the tears Diana sheds backstage afterwards are heart-rendering but as you read the translation you find out she was crying not because of the judges' failure to turn, but rather because she had never been applauded so much by so many people before... (which then went and made me cry! lol). One day the whole world will applaud this amazing young lady.

Perhaps it was for the best that the clueless judges did not pick her for their teams. Years later Diana said that the two shows she was on - The Voice and You Are Super - were night and day. The Voice was all about cuthroat competition while You Are Super paid more attention to the young contestants' well-being and a healthy relationship between them. After this performance, backstage Diana burst into tears but - interestingly - not because of losing, but because the applause she had received was stronger than she had ever heard before. Today she is a freshman at the prestigious Moscow Institute of Performing Arts. I hope the road ahead of her is promising. Russian commenters often allude to the Russian entertainment industry being a rigged game, but I have no idea if there is any truth to it. Anyway, Diana comes of age this month and some career decisions will probably soon be made.

Greetings from Scotland! This is not all of the video. It goes on where the judges question Diana and ask her if she can sing anything else. Diana sings the Edith Piaf classic - "Non, Je ne regrette rien" in near perfect French and with such emotion and power. This is the point where all the judges realise they have made one of the biggest collective mistakes of their lives...................... Such a shame, but Diana picked herself up and every day, every performance since then she has shown them just what they let slip through their fingers. There's a lot more that happened but it would take all night to explain. :))

Thank you for this video reaction. Diana released a beautiful song called With You Voice last year. She also released several other songs recently that are rather sad. They included Perfection,. Fastidious Horses and Soldier You Survived. The last song was in honor of the veterans of WWII. The Russians call it the The Great Patriotic War. It is interesting to see all of the adults in this video become so emotional with this video. Then again, war is a terrible thing that marks us for life. Even 70 years later. As I understand, the veterans groups asked Diana to sing it. I think they made the right choice.

Hi from France Great reaction! Your astonishment is not exceptional! Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from classical singing....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is polyphonic voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result. This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya, the Russian folk diva. This was a really good deconstruction of Dianas performance. You really should be able monetize content like this.. I really don't understand this adversarial stance against reactors that the entertainment industry and You Tube have. Common sense would dictate a mutually beneficial approach in which the reactor share in the revenue that any particular video generates. In essence a reactor uses someone else's work to get views on their own channel, that's true enough. But a good reactor doesn't alter that work in any adverse way. Instead he (or she) enhances the original piece of work by adding different kinds of value to them. One added value is that people that would not seek out a particular artists work by them selves because of one reason or another, suddenly may be interested in that artist, purely because they have been exposed to him (or her) by watching a reactor that they like and respect. That kind of exposure must be very valuable for the artist and the record label, and they didn't have to spend any money to get it. Kind of like a company that makes aftermarket parts for cars. Some car models in their original form does not garner much interest among a certain demographic. But they can suddenly get noticed and coveted by that very demographic when they are modified with after market components, made by companies not affiliated with the original maker. That then creates a mutually beneficial situation wherein the car manufacturer adds a new client base and sell more cars, not thru their own efforts, but by the efforts of an outside company. The after market parts producer in turn gets access to all the different markets where that car manufacturer sells their products. And finally, the buyers of these enhanced products all around the world now get to drive the type of cars they find matches their driving style and taste, everyone wins. I have myself found several new artists that I would have never sought out on my own simply by watching different reaction channels, most recently the artist NF. I never used to listen to rap, the genre seemed to be filled with a bunch of braggarts and misogynists with BIG attitudes and stupid lyrics as far as I was concerned. But one day a few months ago I was exposed to NF thru a reactor that I like. And in this artist I found quality's and a attitude that I found very appealing (and the music is banging too, as the younger generation puts it...). So now I'm subscribed to a RAP channel. (I can hardly believe it myself) The ONLY reason I have subscribed to NF:s official channel is because of that reactor. So shouldn't he also be able to profit a little in this situation? Why is that not the standard on You Tube? I don't understand. Other added values that reaction channels can provide an artist is increased appreciation for their singing ability thru the analysis by voice coaches or other artists. Reaction channels further more help keep the fans of various artists exited about them between record drops because they like watching different people react to their favorite artist. Finally I want to mention the comment section on these reaction channels which provide a space for the fans (new and old) to mingle and discuss and share information about the artist. This also helps the artist to get new fans and to keep the old ones by no effort of their own or by their record label. 👍 (I first posted this comment on the Wolf Rock channel, since he is fighting You Tube about this very topic right now...)

There are a number of versions of what happened, but there was a video out that had English subtitles that made it quite clear. Apparently the female judge was the only one who could vote as the men had their number of contestants. The woman couldn't decide if she had anything to offer to an extremely talented yodeler, what if that is all she can do? Later in the video the judges ask her to give them a sample of something else and Diana sings a few bars of "Non, Je Ne Regret Rien" and it blows them out of the water. It's a good thing she had this exposure and results because it may have had a lot to do with her appearing on You are Super. Unfortunately, I didn't save the location of the version with the subtitles, and haven't been able to find it back yet.

TV talent shows have never been about the talent and in the case of this show it's only about who the the judges think they can win with based on there own "expertise". Maybe someday there will be an actual honest show that focuses on the actual talent and not the saddest back story or putting another feather in a judges cap.

I think you should revisit this piece and I guess there should be English auto translation enabled right now. One of the judges ask her to sing "a normal" piece and she signs a short part from Edith Piaf's Non Je Regrette ... something and she nails it. Later she goes to her family and breaks into tears saying "I am not offended by rejection, I am not crying because of that, I am crying because it's the first time I am getting that amount of applause and standing ovation" I can guarantee you'd break into tears at that moment...

The thing with The Voice is that the singer's song choice and the delivery of that song at the blind audition defines what kind of artist the singer is or wants to be. Especially with The Voice given the fact the coaches cannot see the visual of the artist before making a decision to turn. They have no other information to work with making song choice extremely crucial. If it was American Idol or America's Got Talent format the judges can say "OK, have you got a second song?" and converse with the auditionee before making a decision but not with The Voice. You get one song and one shot and that's it. Your song and the style of music of that song speak volumes of the direction you want to go to and aspirations of who you want to be. The goal is to market a commercial pop artist or at least use the show as a springboard to a bigger audience. With a song and music style like this it is nowhere near commercial enough making the coaches doubt if they can work with the artist because as far as they are concerned the singer could well just only be interested with this type of music and sings nothing else. I have seen pro level jazz and opera singers delivering elite level performances on The Voice and none of the coaches turn around with some of the coaches giving the explanation "I didn't turn around because I simply wouldn't know what to do with you if I was your coach". I know if the show is called The Voice then the main consideration should be about the voice but life is a bit more complicated than that and other factors would come into play. Moral of the story is, be smart with the choices and decisions you make when entering shows like this..........song choice can be absolutely key to making the next round as it is evident in this case. If you get one shot, use it wisely.

Hey Christi if you want to see another completely different side of Diana and learn about Russian culture, then listen to some of her singing very old traditional songs for the upcoming Holiday "Victory Day" on May 8th. This is a highly celebrated holiday throughout Russia and many eastern European countries. Many artists have sung these songs throughout time. WARNING, these are very sad and somber songs. "Dark Night", "Craines", and "You Survived Soldier" from her YT chanel. Diana is very Patriotic, and I find it very very rare that a young artist like her performs these type of songs in today's world. React to any of them if you wish or not. I just ask you to listen to them.
