Singing Shallow & Phantom in the same show is child's play for Floor :). When Nightwish is on tour, she'll do 1.5 to 2 hours with hardly any breaks, and sings songs ranging from Weak Fantasy, Yours is an Empty Hope to Ghost Love Score and The Greatest Show on Earth. AND...when they're in NA, it's not that unusual for them to do 3 shows back to back to back. It's pretty well established that she's from a race of super beings sent to earth to bring peace, love, and good happiness stuff to humankind :) (props to anyone who gets *that* reference!).

It was the last episode, the duet one. All did 2 duets, besides Ruben doing one duet and Tim did 3. They normally record 2 episodes per evening but I don't know if this was the only one they did record that night. I think they do keep 1 recording time as spare in their 4-5 day time in case of bad weather. And the last duets including the Phantom were done in a bit of a hurry since the roof of the tent was leaking (you can see it in the clip) because of the heavy rain and wind. (It's recorded on Ibiza in April)

@@AnnieNYC1 You are most welcome. The host (Jan) won't be hosting the next season and will be replaced by 2 other singers that he used to host other similar shows with on the same channel. Not sure if it is just this year because he will also host the Eurovision song contest together with a previous host of this show and 2x Eurovision contender Edsilia Rombley. I know he has or had laryngitis and cancelled all his shows and wiki etc say that is the official reason he won't be hosting beste zangers but since the recordings of that is end of April and Eurovision is begin May and broadcasted by the same channel.. seems more logical.

For future reference, in every episode (broadcasted weekly), one of the singers is the guest of honour, to whom the other singers sing the song that the main guest wrote/sang/were inspired by. E.g. in your reaction video about "winner", Tim Akkermans was the guest of honour. Tim wrote that song and released it on one of his albums, so Floor chose to sing that song to him. The songs that the singers are going to sing are kept secret, at least to the guest of honour that episode. In the episode Floor did the solo version of shallow, Emma was the guest of honour. The very last episode of each (more recent) season is the duet episode. Everyone can choose 1 other person to sing a duet with. Tim chose Floor for this song. At the very end, Floor chose Henk to do Phantom of the Opera with. Henk did a duet with Emma by the way. Vivo Per Lei (originally by Andrea Bocelli). Yes Christy, this was in the same show as the Phantom. In fact all the duets were in one show. Most of the singers did 2 duets. They set it up as as all of them made a choice and this was Tim's choice. The Phantom was Floor's choice. Ruben did only one duet, but he wrote the Dutch lyrics for one of Emma's duets. Tim however did three duets and this one was his third. Between this performance and The Phantom, was only one other duet, Rolf and Samantha. Nice reaction again.

Everybody has at least one duet, it is amazing watching all the performances culminating in Floor and Henk performing 'Phantom.' All the artists really show their talents in this episode even more than the rest.

Tim Akkerman doesn't only sing in a higher key, he also has much better pitch control than Bradley Cooper. Cooper wasn't exactly spot on with all his notes. And about Tim only supporting Floor a bit: it might simply be all he has to offer. If I remember correctly Marko Hietala (bassist and singer of Nightwish) once said that Floor is the first singer where he doesn't have to hold back on harmonies. Because whatever he does, Floor will be able to outsing him anyway.

One thing about Bradley Cooper not being exactly spot on might be, that maybe he does not use autotune? Is it even possible to be off pitch with it? In this Beste Zangers show I believe they used it to everyone. Even Henk sounds too processed and little weird, so does Floor's straight notes. I'm not expert, and I would be happy to wrong with this, but there is something that doesn't sound right in many of these performances.

It is a very gentle version. I think you nailed in it that one descriptor. Tender. Soulful. Moving. Full of emotion and undercurrents of anguish and wariness and hope. I don't know that he deferred to Floor as much as they played different roles: her being the one who was 'diving in' and him the one who is supporting her courage to do that, as well as perhaps the character of the man in the song, who is hesitant and not 'all-in-' and wary around the edges. While she is both the one who is taking the step forward and encouraging him. They are mirroring the very skinless reality of the song, IMO.

That last episode was a really great conlusion of the show. So many great duets there. One of my favs is "Vivo per Lei" with Henk and Emma. I compared it to many versions with Andrea and female guest singers and I think Andrea and Emma would be my favorite combination. Emma does a really great job there, bringing the lightness, freshness and emotion that the song requires. Sounds great with Henks rich and full voice, but I miss that little distortion that Andrea Bocelli brings in with this song, which makes it even more emotional. That's complaining on a really high level though :-) Another great duet is Emma and Rolf doing "Pa Olvidarte". That one is just fun to watch and you start to wonder what was going on behind the scenes :-P

All duos were in the last episode. Phantom was the last song of the series. It was raining and thundering very hard and you can see the rain leaking through the tent during the performance of Phantom Of The Opera. So Floor started the season and ended the season, as it should be.

Yes, they performed both songs in the same episode.This was the last episode, which is always the duet episode. Each singer chooses a song and a duet partner to perform the song with. Tim chose this as his duet, The Phantom was Floor’s choice. Henk chose Emma to perform Vivo per lei with him. Not sure if you have reacted to that one yet, but if not then you definitely should, it’s breathtakingly beautiful. The Phantom was the very last performance, i.e. the closer of the season. What a way to close the season!

This was from the final episode of this year's Beste Zangers. Every singer did at least 2 songs. Denise Hofs did a wonderful translation of the whole show (www.dailymotion.com/video/x7mnhr1) , Unfortunately it is not available on KZbin. Every one of the performances was amazing. The standouts were probably Floor with Tim, Floor with Henk and Henk with Emma, although they were all top notch. Even if you don't react to it, I would highly recommend watching it!

Hello Christi (again) -- I knew and was sure that you still have this performance on your radar - and rightly so, as it turned out once again... For me, it's definitely a better musical realization than Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Floor and Tim are thoroughbred musicians and they both know what they can do. Therefore a complete one step higher in key -- that certainly didn't hurt the performance and they both obviously felt more comfortable with it. However, Tim also ran the risk that Floor would cover him with her vocal power - which is why Floor slowed down noticeably, at least up to the bridge piece. But it is exactly in this bridge piece that she loosens all reins. At first sight I thought: ok, now Tim is eaten, when Floor gets up and puts the chair aside. But for me this was again an extraordinary good performance of both, which doesn't need to hide behind "Phantom of the Opera".

I think: Tim realized he had a timing problem, Floor was running ahead of the instrumentals to stretch the notes, as divas do. He couldn't exactly predict it so shifted to safer harmonics. Remember they have very little time to practice, they shot 2-3 shows per day.

Managing Shallow and Phantom in the same show is nothing compared to the variety she goes through in a standard Nightwish live show. Treat yourself to "Showtime, Storytime", "Vehicle of Spirit" or the new "Decades - Live in Buenos Aires" DVDs to see what she gets through over a couple of hours. You'll recognise a lot of the songs from reaction videos!

Think back on The Poet and the Pendulum, where she has four or five different tone qualities / emotions in the same song, without even a break. I think she has reached a level where she can just switch and sing at will, snap finger: belt, snap finger: opera, snap finger: breathiness and head voice and distortion stacked on each other... hey, why not throw a bit of growling in for good measure (you really need to react to Yours Is An Empty Hope, live at Wembley or on the cruise)... I believe this is called 'goddess level'?

Ma'am, you should react to Tim's performances on that show, his graspy voice is so enjoyable to hear. Emma's voice as well. You have good content for your channel just in that show. For me the best that happened on TV worldwide last year. And yeah, that full episode (1 hour) was about duets, every duet happened that same day, one after another.

If performing Phantom and Shallow within a span of the same episode is interesting, it's even more impressive what Floor can do within the span of the same song! As great as Ghost Love Score was in that respect, there is an even more impressive example - "Wildcard", from her ReVamp days. It's also a part of her arsenal you have not heard before, at least not in the reactions. I think a Floor deep dive might be incomplete without it... By the way, in a recent interview Floor said the entire Beste Zangers show, all of its episodes, were filmed in only 4 days. And Floor provided the bookends - Vilja Lied was the opener, Phantom was the closer, at least the way they aired.

Yeah... Tim has very nice raspy sound! Definitely check some other of his performances! With more practice They could have balanced their Sounds even better. It still is nice performance, but Floor did dominate in volume... but it is really hard to not be dominated by Floor in volume ;) I definitely like Tims Dear mister president and his other duets. The last episode was blast! And his take on Nemo was really interesting speed rock version. Very different from original! Nobody else did not have courage to go for Nightwish songs! Not an easy task to take...

Yes Floor was likely much louder at the end than Tim. But this is one of the few performances from Beste Zangers I feel they could have done a better job adjusting the singers volume during production. Mostly it was pretty much spot on, but here it''s like they turned down Floors mic as she kept increasing power, keeping the volume at the same level from start to finnish. The problem however it sounds like they turned down Tims mic equally, leading to him being almost inaudiable at the end. Well, it's still a beautiful performance! 😊

I got his album Lions Don‘t Cry some weeks ago, which is very solid, rocky and pleasant. Didn‘t know him before the show, but immediately likes his tone and attitude.

In the last episode (8th) they made all the duets from the show, and "The Phantom" was the last performance in the show. My impression was Floor overpowered Tim in this one. But again, there are not many male singers out-there to match her power..

Floor did wear the same outfit. All duets were done in the same (last) episode. The whole season of Beste Zangers was recorded in only 4 days. So there should even be multiple episodes been recorded on the same day.

I also recommend checking out "Tim Akkerman - Dear mr. president | Beste Zangers 2019". It's a very emotional Version of a very emotional Song Q_Q In my Opinion the best "Solo" Song of him during the Show.

@@JoshuaSmith-fc8kg what I try to say is the show like Beste Zangers (Best Singers) require the artist to be already recognized to be invited , and on such competitive market as american to get somewhere you need to have a level of arrogance , backing from powerful people , sometimes talent and always a lot of luck , is very difficult to get so honest reactions . Vocally it would not be a problem to find good enough singers , it's just a high risk to show become another competition (like anything in USA tv shows) , not a celebration of talent the international version of the show may be a better idea

I wish this as well, Joshua. I watch zero television now (which is probably obvious, ha!). But, I have to agree with some of the comments below that I don't think our American television producers could handle something where there is zero drama between the talent. They make that stuff up just to keep people watching. I've been so touched by the spirit of this entire BESTE ZANGERS 2019 cast, crew and production. Very moving and extremely impressive work! So, I think Floor would be a great actress in that she can mimic any language she wants. It must be a little harder to sing to match sounds and tones rather than words you're used to singing.
