Just hearing Dan change between his Walter Matthau impression and the iconic, goofier Homer voice is fascinating. Not to mention how he's been voicing the same character for over 35 years.

The season 8 voice is the one I'm used to hearing. I wasn't able to watch the show in first run so I relied on off-network syndication at least until I got a chance to start watching the first run episodes. Now I have Disney+ just for the sole reason of watching the show without cropping or time cuts.

Crazy, he sounds pretty much the same from seasons 2-33, then starts sounding a bit like Grampa at 34.

I like how his voice got goofier the second his character did. I find that episode "No Disgrace Like Home" quaint, as Homer was actually trying to better the family and wasn't seen as the embarrassing one. While we mostly are familiar with Captain Wacky, if not Jerk-Ass Homer, thoughtful, Walter Mathau-esque Homer always feels strange. His character was unfinished and he was all about being an angry dad, not the doofus Everyman we all know and love. And while some of the voice actors' age really caught up to their vocal cords, Dan's doesn't feel nearly as dramatic.

Throughout Season 5 to 7 you notice Homer's voice get so much louder in some scenes that you practically hear it reverberate off the walls at wherever they recorded those episodes at the time it's especially noticable in King Size Homer
