Jim Cummings re-voiced some scenes from the Many Adventures for the Mini Adventures short Disney series and it's nearly identical... Right down to the intonation...! Jim Cummings studied Sterling Holloway so well and got it just perfect. I love them both. I also love the Eyeore short that Hal Smith voiced too where Pooh invents the Pooh Sticks game!

When a characters voice actor is replaced, it normally sticks out like a sore thumb, but Jim Cummings is so spot on with Sterling Holloways voice, you have to really listen for the differences to notice them, and he does equally well with Paul Winchells Tigger. Nancy Cartwright voicing Chuckie in the Rugrats is another great example, and Ben Whitehead in the latest Wallace and Gromit film. They're both pretty spot on.

Worked with a smaller man that had an actual voice eerily similar to Jim Cummings pooh voice. We all called him Winnie and he was surprised we called him that. Seriously a sweet man and very kind. Haven’t heard from him in almost 10 years. He should be pushing his mid 60’s by now.

Personally I much prefer Sterling Holloway as Pooh. Hearing Jim Cummings over and over got old and annoying for me growing up so I watched The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and heard Holloway's voice it sounded similar but at least it was more soft spoken. Jim is ok but I prefer it when he plays an original character and not a character that has already been voiced as a replacement for them like Pooh or Tigger.

I know that your video is about the cartoon and video versions of Pooh, but could you consider the audiobook interpretations of his voice? The British actor Norman Shelley did a smashing good voice for Pooh when he read the audiobooks. Also, Stephen Fry voiced Pooh for a dramatised reading of the two story collections, and Bernard Cribbins and Peter Dennis have also portrayed Pooh for audiobook. I was wondering if you could spare a thought for these other Pooh voices, especially Norman Shelley. It is furry and fluffy like Jim Cummings, but it keeps to the British tone of the character. Holloway defined the character, and Cummings has cemented it for over 35 years. Smith's Pooh was okay. Not bad but not particularly good, either. It got the job done for the interim before they were fortunate enough to find Cummings. (Smith would continue to voice Owl for a while --- he, Paul Winchell and John Fiedler were the only cast members from the original shorts who reprised their roles in the '80s TV series.)

You know what sometimes I wish I can make my own version of Winnie the Pooh when Christopher Robin is a teenager and he's dressed in a tuxedo and the other characters including pooh or turning on a show for every child Young and the old to see the stories of new kinds of adventures of Winnie the Pooh only Christopher Robin would be the narrator and in my version of Winnie-the-Pooh Jessie the bluebird would have a boyfriend that Rabbit does not trust and as you know Rabbit was a little too overprotective for her remember in The New adventures of Winnie the Pooh when they met Kessie for the first time ever and her boyfriend would be called Cody and every time the show goes on the introduce themselves when they sing and dance and wear top hats and hold Canes!
