John Cygan was known for his on screen roles in The Commish, Fraiser, Judging Amy, The X-Files The Shield, and NYPD Blue, but in voice acting, he's better known as the Dash Rendar, Iron Man in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but mainly Solidus Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series. John passed away due to cancer on May 2017. We lost another talented VA to cancer in such a short amount of time, but like how Solidus wanted, John Cygan will be remembered. I've done many tribute showcases to past VA's as of late, so next ones after that will be hopefully bring some cheer! Next one will be Kimberly Brooks, next Comparing the Voices will be more updated DC heroes like Black Canary, Green Arrow and more. Finally, next up is Despicable Me 1 & 2 later this week. Oh yeah, just in case someone says something, Iron Man in the Punisher game wasn't voiced by him, that was James Horan (aka, Skullface in MGSV). How do I know this? I checked the not detailed credits and it sounds just like Horan.

I didn't know John died. He had a great career, and I'll always remember him as Canderous Ordo in Knights of the Old Republic. One hell of a voice actor. It's actually weird to listen to Jon Favreau voicing Mandalorians in the show of the same name and in Clone Wars before it, and feel the similarity, how he picked up so much from Cygan's work. Gave a voice to a whole chunk of the Star Wars universe in a way. RIP Sir. Thank you for the games and dreams.

He also voiced Luke Skywalker in the Dark Empire, Dark Empire II, and Empire's End audio dramas adapted from the comics in the 90s. He really had to take Luke to some dark and sinister places since in Legends, Luke did fall to the dark side for a very brief time. Be he Jedi Master, Mandalorian warrior, or Outrider piloting smuggler etc, he was one heck of an actor.
