I love Queen Latifah! She can sing, rap, act and she just gives off positive down to earth energy.

One of my favorites. I tried out for Hairspray the musical because of this song and because of her❤ Been watching her since U.N.I.T.Y on BET. I want to work with her SO bad some day.

6:47 mark - Yes, indeed! Queen will add in that grit, for sure. I love it. 🙌🏿✨💛

I love that point, at 3:30- the sound changed, but the intensity didn’t. I believe that speaks to Queen’s voice overall, too. She has a consistent smoothness about her, and it’s reflected in every song. 🙌🏿💛

Great analysis as usual!! Queen Latifah is such a multifaceted artist. Most people either forget or don't realize she started off as a rapper. Next suggestion for the video reaction: Barbara Streisand and Diana Ross My Man. Their approach to the same song is so different, and I would love your feedback.

I loved this movie so much when I was younger, people hated on it so hard but I think she did such a good job as Motomouth Maybelle.

Mr. Legair, I TRUST in your instruction and critique of music. May I request one analysis, Queen Latifah's version of the jazz standard, "Lush Life" from the movie, "Living Out Loud". Her version is my favorite of all versions. I would LOVE to hear your vocal critique of her performance of "Lush Life". I don't know how to describe what she is doing musically with the correct music theory terms, so I won't even try. I know you can educate us on what they are. I would love to hear your take on it. Thank you for always blessing us with your knowledge and instruction.

It's interesting how voices are thoroughly analyzed in singing, yet some so-called experts seem to struggle with clear articulation and enunciation in everyday communication. Their speech often remains in a high-pitched "Valley girl" tone, even as men. Is that affectation, or perhaps something like a falsetto? This deliberate lower range of modulation can result in an irritating sound, which might be described as "Bae bae-ish," if such a term exists.
