I grew up with the Beatles. How can someone make a better recording than this iconic original? And yet Angelina does it again, she allows you to feel the song, not just hear it. She is a truly fearless artist. Bravo!!!! Always love your reactions.

You know that Angelina’s rendition is about 25 seconds longer than the original…so she didn’t shorten it at all. That said, the extra time was spent adding so much melancholy and regret, I love it!

The shakiness in her voice gives her performance that extra personal emotional connection. Also, I don't know why but her vocal rendition is even better when I listened to it with my eyes closed. About the shopping cart, as I listened to her rendition, I became nostalgic, remembering the times I put my kids in the shopping cart and pushed it really fast in the parking lot to our car. The kids were laughing, their mother screaming in horror and fear. It was fun for us all. My kids are too big to fit together in the cart now. I do miss those good times. I guess this is my "yesterday".

Ken, really enjoyed your comment! Brought back memories. I'll give you a personal one from me. When my mom put me in the carriage for the first time I wasn't exactly thrilled. I wasn't in control or something like that. Well, when I became old enough to actually push the cart around, well, that was another story! Look out, here I come! You need to picture my mother with a armful of groceries turning to put them into the shopping cart when she realized it wasn't there anymore! "Where's the shopping cart? Robert, where are you? Come back with the cart!" Where was I? Well, I took advantage of the fact she would be spending time picking out fresh vegetables so what a perfect time to take off to the cereal isle (where there was also candy and cookies). Well, that was the beginning of the end for my shopping excursions with mom. She no longer required my assistance pushing her shopping cart!

As always a reaction where I learn important data about the human soul. Valerie's spiritualist reading, even unspoken, is always rich. Positioning the diaphragm and respiratory support doesn't seem to be easy inside a shopping cart, but as an artist she always stands out in this artistic arrangement, only her voice shines, without any distraction. Yesterday is a love song. As always, Angelina beautifully articulates the emotional essence the lyrics were intended to portray. As I’ve said many times after listening to Angelina cover a song it is the first time I actually paid attention to the lyrics and not just the melody.

Angelina’s character here feels the need to hide in the past, to be the safe little girl in the shopping cart. A very sentimental feeling. But it must be as obvious to her, doubled up in there, as it is to us: The past is gone, and after some bewilderment about how quickly things have changed, it will be time to face the present. Nice reaction to a lovely, thoughtful performance!

My theory about the shopping cart is that, as a toddler, having mom push you around in a shopping cart could be a 'safe place' type happy memory for a young girl like AJ. That would kind of fit the 'longing for yesterday' vibe of the song...just a thought.

I had the same nostalgic feeling with the shopping cart as I listened to Angelina's rendition. But it was not "safe place", more like "dangerous but fun place", as I pushed the cart so fast in the parking lot with my kids in it. hahahaha. They loved the ride though.

While i totally enjoy her singing here, the shopping cart makes me uncomfortable. I am sure it is a reason behind that choice, but for me it doesn't work. We can spin ideas and our imagination to make it acceptable, but Angelina inside a shopping cart, singing one the most famous song in the world, is plain silly to me. Sorry.

This beautiful reminiscence is classic Angelina: take an iconic song, let the natural jazziness of her voice ooze out on some words and phrases, and slow it down so that we understand and feel the real meaning of the lyrics. Her voice is so captivating, complex, and delicious. Angelina is a complete artist. She doesn’t throw away even one word in the lyrics. I'm thinking of it's just a random cute stuff from Angelina singing inside the shopping cart. In Billie Jean cover where she used 3 colored rooms she sang while being seated. While in this orange room there's nothing to seat to. And maybe that's when Angelina said the shopping cart will do 😅. And actually artistically it adds interest to the whole setup.

I wouldn't be surprised if you've nailed it. Nothing else handy, she doesn't want to cause a big production. Heard her uncle negotiating down the price of the studio time, knows he will have trouble trying to get furniture from them, goes out back and finds this cart, says "lets go!"

Juxtaposition! That's the word! My opinion of this video, which I love so much .. is that Angelina is 15 and has a good sense of humor. Her shopping cart is the place where she is hiding away. She is depressed cause her love left her without saying why .. her heart is broken .. so it seems as good a place as any. She is brilliant, our beautiful young lady .. no surprise there!.. another juxtaposition is, indeed, the color - which you pointed out. I also love that she barely moves at all, apart from her arm. Perfect for taking on one of the most iconic songs ever! .. and her voice seems more and more wanting to go to the depths .. with her heart .. third and last time around the verse she can barely get the word yesterday out! People always talk about how singing sitting down is so difficult, and while this is not singing while doing acrobatics like PINK in Glitter, it has to be difficult to manage and control breath in a cramped position like she is in the Cart.

At first I thought that Angelina was performing to her own recording here - which of course is how videos are usually made. After. all, this is not labeled as «live in studio». However, looking and listening VERY closely, it may well be that what we are hearing is actually Angelina singing in the shopping cart. If not, the syncing is excepional.

As opposed to her earlier live performances (when she was younger), seems maybe some editing to enhance her volume or that of the instruments.

I just listened to this original "Yesterday" song sung by Paul McCartney in 1965. I must say that I think that Angelina's version (being slowed down, more introspective, and more melancholic) seems (IMO) to fit the lyrics of the song much better. Paul obviously sings the song very well. But the lyrics of this song are quite sad and yet he seems to sing it much faster and lacking the emotion to match the lyrics. Of course, before Angelina sang this song, I never gave this any thought, even though I probably heard the song more than a hundred times through the years. I'm 57, quite young in the 60s, but I had four older brothers who were always playing these songs. It must have seeped into me by osmosis.

Regarding the shopping cart, just conjecturing here. Could it be that she was just being playful hiding inside the cart as the lyric mentioned the need to hide-away. Hopefully, it is not because of her feeling being cooped-up due to the pandemic and sub-consciously or not manifesting it this way. Thank you for your another wonderful AJ reaction.

It is not orange which is a sunny, vital color - as they used a sepia effect, that is, they aged the image with brown monochromatic tones. Why they did it and why they put Angelina as a little girl in a shopping cart is a mystery. Only hypotheses can be made. The use of vintage could represent Angelina's old soul. Having put it in a cart can have a psychological reading: "do not fill me with expectations". But they leave the time they find.

The Color Crib where this was filmed is not a recording studio. It is a visual scene rental with 7 pre-configured monochrome rooms. The shopping cart was part of the "Orange Convenience Store" set. Michael and Angelina used the props available to them. Michael had used some of the other configured rooms earlier in the day to film the visuals for the Billie Jean video. They include - Blue Rustic Junkyard - Red Bar - Green Patio BBQ - Yellow Vintage Bedroom - Purple Vintage Office and an all Black room.

Oh, she sing it from the girl perspective and blaming him! She has lost control by sitting in the cart. Seems like she's apatien depressed with fatigue. she is sader than original and sitting with emotional pain. She's seems to be in like a dreamlike state. When ever she could, she would go back to sleep, or in a sort of cocoon. Good work of art. Brilliant!

Hi Valerie, greetings from the Netherlands. I always enjoy your reaction videos. I might have an interesting recommendation for you. Have you ever listened to AURI? AURI is a band composed of Finnish keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, his wife and Finnish vocalist Johanna Kurkela and English multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Troy Donockley (as you know, Tuomas and Troy are also members of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish). They describe Auri's music as celestial metal, with influences from folk music, Celtic music and soundtracks. It has the metal attitude, but without all of the electric guitars and bass. Of course Angelina's voice is stunning no doubt about it but I have an impression she got lost in interpretations of Billy Jean and Yesterday, I'm disappointed. Billy Jean has a very distinctive rythm which makes this song (and most of MJ songs) great and which she ruined making the song unattractive. As for Yesterday imho she was going in a right direction in her tiktok version with amazing vocal fry and then she changed the style in a way that seems unappealing to me and appearing like she had no idea how to interpret the song. Btw. Sitting in a shopping tray is a little bit childish to me and I have no idea what that was supposed to mean.
