Are you kidding me !? He is the best vocalist in the world, hands down. As a young man he adored Lara Fabian and marveled how she incorporated so much emotion into her music. They became friendly and they are still close today. He learned well and has become a master of captivating his audiences whenever he performs. I had the great privilege of seeing him perform live in Brooklyn, NY almost a year ago and it was so special to see him in person. Without much publicity because his gig was a last minute commitment, the Arena still sold out! And, you can imagine how much love was in the building!

And I appreciate your sincere reaction and deep feeling. The first time I heard Dimash after being recommended to listen to him by a friend, I could NOT stop crying. I felt as if I were hearing a being from another galaxy another world, not human, more divine than human. And some reactors have such a "normal" reaction.....like how does this not touch your soul at the deepest level? Thanks!

The fist time Dimash asked for permission to sing the song the composer doubted not his skills but the lack of maturity of a young lad barely in his 20's to understand the song - he wanted to hear Dimash's interpretation before giving his permission. He was stunned. That version from 2016 is different - more a mix of happiness and sadness of a father seeing his daughter happy but having to watch her go at the same time. This one is obviously so deeply overshadowed by the loss of his teacher and mentor - Dimash seems to literally pour his grieve into the song - an beautiful emotional tribute from one artist to another.

/// The story of the song "Karagym-ay" / "My dear". Lyrics written by Sariev Shomishbay. Music written by Duysekeev Kenes. Poet Sariev dedicates these poems to his daughter, who is getting married. In the poems, the poet conveys his feelings about how the life of his daughter will turn out with her chosen one. Father shares thoughts on the meaning of life with his daughter. In his opinion, the main meaning of life is Love. Without love, life is empty. The poet asked a friend, composer Duisekeev, to write music for his poems. The composer remembered his only sister who died when she was 19 years old. She didn't get married. That's why the song also feels the pinching sadness of the failed love. /// Dimash performed the song "Karagym-ay" on April 9, 2016 at a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the composer Kenes Duisekeev. The composer was surprised by how Dimash was able to understand and convey the deep meaning of the song, despite his young age (Dimash was 21 at the time.). After the performance of the song, the composer applauded Dimash with the words BRAVO!!!" /// Composer Kenes Duysekeev was Dimash's teacher at the university. He died on July 9, 2020 from Covid-19. /// It's a pity that Maestro Kenes Duisekeyev will never hear this particular performance. A completely new interpretation compared to Dimash' performance on April 9, 2016 at the composer's anniversary. In the current performance, each word is colored with musical colors, intonations, feeling. The song, at first glance, is simple and has several verses, without choruses. Each verse begins with the same words "Karagym-a-а-а-а-аy" ("My dear"). But there are so many accents, and each verse sounds SO different, that I personally perceive this performance as a requiem, crying for a departed irretrievably good man. /// Dimash sang this song in 2016, when he was 21 years old. Please watch the clip with a good sound (English subtitles) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqaVmGSVhZtjeNU

It's evident that Dimash is a fantastic vocalist, but as you highlighted, he really emerses his heart and soul into the message of the music to make sure it's delivered with the intent the composer wanted. Kudos to you a well, as the listener. That you convey the reaction he would also show. Music is not just meant for your ears... The composer wasn’t only a teacher/mentor of Dimash. He was a grandfatherly friend for him too. Also he was one of the two mentors of Dimash who died within a week in July due to the virus. It must have been really tough for Dimash to sing this song. He sings this song so beautifully... in part like a grieving human, and in part like an angel giving someone a sendoff to heaven. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction.

👉The 60th Qazaqconcert 2020 (TV broadcast) was also used for a memorial ceremony for the people who died of Covid-19. Dimash sang this song for his professor and mentor Kenes Duisekeev (photo), the composer of this melody, who recently passed away from Covid-19. When Kenes Duisekeev set the words of the Kazakh poet Shomishpay Sariev to music and composed this melody, he remembered his sister who died at the age of 19 before she could marry. Sariev wrote the poem for his daughter, who got married and left the house. He wondered what her life would be like and wished her a life full of love. Life is short and without love it would be sad and empty. When Dimash sang this for the first time in 2016 (for the composer's 70th birthday), he interpreted it completely differently and the composer Kenes Duisekeev was overwhelmed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXnKoISIi7usa9E 🌼🇩🇪 👉 Qarağım-ay (Қарағым-ай) /Apple of My Eye/ My Dear (*Term in a parent-child relationship, here, father-daughter*) Apple of my eye The beauty should be in this way It lands to a head without wishing People were visitors in life This world was actually short Apple of my eye Gazelles were gushing like this Who can block you in your way? Why is this heart prouding? To whom will this fate add you? Apple of my eye You looked at by breaking and falling to pieces How beautiful your pupils which are looking are! Apple of my eye This life was passing by this way If you don't love, this world was in vain If you stack all your life as pages, Is it equal to one of your days you loved? Dimash's teacher is the man shown on the backdrop. As you said, he died recently from Covid 19. He composed the music many years ago, for a friend who wrote the poem that then became the lyrics to the song. The poem was from the perspective of a father on his daughter's wedding day, expressing his pride in her and his worry now that she was embarking on her own life's path . Dimash's teacher, when he composed the music, had in his mind , thoughts of his own sister, who died at the age of 19, and thus did not have the chance for love and marriage. For the composer, this gave the song deep meaning.....for both men. Dimash's performance captures that deep emotional connection, and adds his own pain and sorrow for having lost his teacher and mentor.

The lyrics are from a poem where a father says farewell to his daughter the day before her wedding. The composer put it to music to honour his sister who died when she was 19. A couple of years ago Dimash sang it for the composer at a celebratory concert. That version is lighter. It is on KZbin with subtitles.

This is said with nothing but appreciation for all that you put into this this reaction. I greatly respect your input, insight and commentary. Your tears give witness to the depth to which it touched you. That being said, you may get a lot more emotional and involved in the song if you go back and listen again, ignoring the words, ignoring the history of the song and knowing that it is the the loss of this teacher that really cut Dimash to the core. As he sings, notice the corners of his mouth, the coloration of his eyes (such great pain, on the verge of crying though out) and his body language, etc. In my opinion you are witnessing the most raw and emotional exposure of Dimash's soul that you are likely ever going to see, and I believe it to be because of the loss and not the content of the song itself, though it surely adds to it. This entire song destroys me, but especially at the point that he goes to take a breath, the corners of his mouth pull down drastically in a defined struggle to contain himself and as he inhales, it is nearly a sob. At that point, if I don't have a bucket and towel handy, I end up with soggy socks. I hope to share many more tears with you on this wonderful journey with Dimash and the family of Dears that surround and lift him in love.
