This is heart-piercing and filled with emotion. No wonder you were, too. I think many of us who had lost a mentor, a dear friend, a family member, a person who had guided us and shared our processes and progress and struggles and repairs, who watched us become who we are, who have become part of the fabric of who we are ... can relate to the grief of this. Dimash sings this from a broken heart, to others' hearts. Thank you for your honesty and unflinching willingness to emote truth and connection and the raw realities of grief. It allows this reaction to be as humane and real as it needs to be, in order to do justice to this song. And to your mentor and teacher. You honored her, and Dimash, and his recently lost mentor. Hugs your way, just because we can all of us use some of those these days.

This version of the song is heart breakingly beautiful and knowing the background of the dedication of this performance, really gets the tears flowing. The song was composed 30 years ago by Kenes Duisekeev to a poem/lyrics written by a friend who's daughter was about to get married. Kenes composed it with the thought in his mind of his sister who died when she was only 19. Kenes at 74 was one of two of his teachers who died of Covid-19, Kenes passed in July. He taught Dimash at university and also mentored him while studying for his Masters Degree in Composition this year. Dimash first asked Kenes if he could perform this song in 2016 and he was unsure Dimash could convey the right emotion being so young but his concerns were allayed and he was impressed with the performance. This version is slower and infinitely more heartfelt and you can see and hear Dimash's deep sorrow and loss 😔

I’m not crying...you’re crying!!! Dimash on a stool, alone on a stage, singing a beautiful Kazakh song, is where he shines the brightest in my opinion. I love all his vocal antics, but honestly, these types of songs are the ones that touch me the most and bring me to tears. You’re absolutely right about the maturity that shines through when he performs these songs. It’s so different than other performances. He’s growing up in front of us and I am loving it. He makes us feel every inch of the emotion he is feeling. How can you not love him for that?

@Michèle Gagné: That's right. You brought up a very important point ... it is never too early to express gratitude or love to someone you value or love ... it can be too late so quickly ... and it is sad if this only happens after that person has passed away. Dimash is a very good role model ... once again ... he's a role model in so many things. My love and greetings from Germany. Stay safe. 😘🇩🇪💝💐😇😷

Dimash is a one of a kind, far above everyone that I have ever listened to. He is a master of so many things. Everyone mentions his range and while that is extraordinary it is only a novelty to me. Where he is spectacular is in using that range coupled with the best dynamics and showmanship I have ever witnessed. He immerses himself into every song and adopts the appropriate persona necessary to fuel the emotions he places into it. An interesting example is in the Fancam video of Ogni Pietra. During the bridge of the song Dimash stays in his character and you can see it in his eyes. In the same video, when the song ends he steps away from the microphone and you can see him emerge from his character. He isn't Dimash when he leaves the microphone but he transitions into himself during the few steps he takes toward the audience and he starts blowing kisses. It's worth watching again just to observe his ability to immerse himself into an imaginary world of his own making. This song, Qaraģym Ai, is unique and so extremely powerful in that Dimash does not adopt any persona. What you see is pure Dimash. That emotion isn't something that he has contrived through adopting anything. The pain and hurt is real and is pure Dimash. It isn't imagined pain, it's real pain and so strong that it brings me to tears every time. For the first time we see the extent of Dimash's true capabilities when he powers his song with his own real emotions. I'm a senior citizen and have loved music all my life. I never heard real music until Dimash. Following Dimash is a journey that I hope never ends. Dimash is a gift to us all.

This performance was part of the Qazaq Concert that's held each year celebrating Qazaq (Kazakh) music. It was without an audience this year and all those lights are monitors in the chairs. I watched most of the concert and it was full of traditional Qazaq (Kazak) music, dancing and upbeat songs. This was a tribute and much more emotional than the other performances. Thank you for your wonderful reaction.

Dimash restrains his range with such finesse in this song -- yet packs so much emotion into it. This economy of sound works like the words of a poet....every note, every syllable: each carries the weight of the world inside it. This was so sublime and emotionally dense that the things in his heart are pinned into ours.

There is a previous version of this song. It speaks about a father and her daughter about to get married. The composer once said that when Dimash told him to sing it, he agreed with reservations because he thought Dimash was too young to be able to understand the deep philosophical meaning it had. Nonetheless, afterwards he had to go hug him to thank him for his singing.

Dear Christi, thank you for your so emotional reaction! You are also only a human being... I cried together with you. This is one of my most favourite songs. Because also my mother sang it. This song was written nearly 25 years ago by Kenes Duisekeev. The man whose picture you see behind Dimash... The main message of this song is that our life without love is worthless. But this song is written like a talk of fathers with his young daughter at her marriage. He tells her also about his experiences in life. He says that we are only guests in this life and it can be very short. One day of love is much more important than all riches... Duisekeev was one of a very famous composers of our days in Kasachstan. This song was sung by a lot of singers. Also Dimash sang it in January 2016 at the 70. Anniversary celebrations concert of Duisekeev. But they all sounded like a hymn to love in life. But now Dimash sings it like a R.I.P., Farewell, saying goodbye and tribute for people, he loved and respected. He sings the song of his teacher, but he expresses his own feelings of a young man, who sees this reality of our life, that we are only guests here... Yes, it seems he matured very quickly. Difficult time nowadays. Dimash made his masters degree in composition this summer. Duisekeev was his prof. Also the man playing piano, Adilzhan Tolykbayev, is a wellknown composer in Kasachstan. His mentor was also Duisekeev.

Thank you Gorgeous reaction♥️♥️♥️ Here's the story of this song Қарағым-ай (Qaraǵym-aı) My Dear / Apple Of My Eye Lyrics: Ш.Сариев (Shomshibai Sariev ) Music: К.Дүйсекеев (Kenes Duisekeev ) History The song "Karagym-ai" was created about 30 years ago. The music for which Kenes Duisekeev wrote in his youth, has its own romantic and dramatic history. The Kazakh poet Shomishpay Sariev is the author of over 15 books and 300 poems and songs, including the lyrics of the song "Қарағым-ай" (Qaraǵym-aı). The poem was created approximately 25 years ago. He dedicated the song to his daughter, who was getting married. The father puts his feelings into the text, his worry, how the life of the daughter with her groom will be formed, what awaits her ahead. Shares with daughter about the meaning of life. The poet argues that the most important meaning of life is Love. Life lived without love is empty. The poet asks: "All life lived without love is equivalent to one day lived in love?" It is always sad to leave home and cross the threshold of of someone else’s house. That is why a bit sad moment to a daughter too. After all, the tears of the girl are not from grief, but only regret when parting with the native village, relatives. Poet asked his friend the famous kazakh composer Kenes Duisekeev to write music. The composer during writing the music to the song, recalls his only sister, who did not have time to get married and died at the age of 19. He dreamed what a father would have felt if she would have married. Therefore, the song turned out not only about the poet’s daughter, who is getting married, but about the composer’s sister, who did not live to see her wedding. Therefore, the song feels sorrow, sadness of failed love. (Source: Luena Autumn KZbin ) This is what composer of music Kenes Duisekeev said: "In 1951, when I was 5 years old, my father passed away. In the same year we left Gulshat's only sister. She was 19 years old, she was a student of Institute in Almaty. And so I thought, if the father were alive and to marry his daugher, what song he would sing to her. On the other hand, I always wanted to write a song in memory of my sister, to create a musical monument. This is how this song was born. Father's wedding song for daugher. When I was preparing for the creative evening in honor of the 70th anniversary (for my 70th birthday). Dimash wished to sing a song Qaraǵym-aı (Қарағым-ай). I doubted, but could not refure, knowing what a talented singer he was. I asked Dimash to introduce song at rehersal. Listening to the song, I hugged and thanked Dimash. A song is not only about love, it has a deep meaning. I thought Dimash could not handle it due to his young age. I was surprised at how he was able to understand and convey the meaning of the song, despite such a young age." Source: ALGA PETERBURG KZbin In the program "Eternal values" Kenes Duissekeevich was asked a question: What should we do in his opinion, so that the songs and compositions are appreciated by the people? He answered that the main criterion for the composer was purity of heart. It must come from the heart, have national roots, and then your works will surely find an answer from the people. In fact, Kenes Duysekeyev's songs are very popular in Kazakhstan because everything is embedded in them: deep meaning, ethnic beauty and sincere love. Source: Dimash Multicultural Club Dimash sang Қарағым-ай for 70th birthday of composer К.Дүйсекеев (Kenes Duisekeev), who has recently passed away (9th July 2020) at the age of 74. Dimash will sing this song at 60th anniversary of Qazaqconcert. It is said that Dimash will dedicate his speech to Kenes Duisekeev: his teacher, a prominent Kazakh composer, "Honored Worker of the Arts" and professor at Kenes Duisekeyev University of the Arts. (Source: Димаш Кудайберген - фан клуб Yandex Zen ) After Dimash's performance in 2016, composer of this song, Kenes Duysekeyev gave him a standing ovation. Evaluation of his performance by such an outstanding person, from whom the singer took lessons, meant a lot to Dimash. He also mentioned Dimash during his interview a year later (in 2017): Kenes Duysaakeyev interview: "Last year, when we celebrated my 70th anniversary organising a concert, Dimash told me he wants to perform the song I composed called "Қарағым-ай" (Qaraǵym-aı).Honestly, I was lost in thoughts, not knowing how to react. But I couldn't say "no" to such a young talnet who desired to perform, and I told him to do his version upon condition that he let me to listen to it before the concert. And he did it. I listened to his version in our final rehersal before the concert. And after I finished listening to it, I called him out. He came running, I hugged him and express my biggest thanks for the song. Because, if one is careful it could be noticed that the song is not only about love, it carried deep meaning and I was doubtful wheather such a young man could bring it to people's hearts in the intended manner. As a matter of fact, in spite of his age, I was astounded that he did perceive this song. This performance by Dimash from the concert dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Kazkahstan concert company "Qazaqconcert" in Oct 2020. Many other Kazkah musicians attended this concert. Dimash has chosen the song by the composer who died in July 2020 from COVID 19 and who was one of his teachers at the music academy. This is also added the sadness to already sad song. Song is in Kazakh. Although, the song about a loving father sending away his beloved daughter into the marriage in the different world, in Dimash interpretation it became the song of loving son giving the way to beloved farther who has departed in another world. One of the lyrics line reads: “we are all only passerby’s or guests in this world” and that applicable to both situations.

Dimash is so incredible here.. He somehow finds the rhythm and nature of human grief, the way it ebbs and flows, grief, disbelief, anger, bitterness, love all pass through this song the way Dimash sings it. Even his mouth shows his grief in its frozenness, as if he can't talk.

Thank You! Beautiful and touching reaction, you have a pure and open soul. Dimash with his performance, this song tears the human soul to shreds. Only the great Dimash can sing so soulfully.

I've listened to this song so many times, but I have tears in my eyes again. There is so much pain, suffering and longing that my heart is tearing. Yesterday a friend of mine, with whom I worked for many years, died, a very wise man, scientist, musician, historian, and I started crying because I will miss him, I miss him already. We've all lost someone important, but luckily music helps us in mourning. Music is God's greatest gift, so that we can console ourselves in sorrow. Music sweetens our lives and brings us hope. Greetings and hug you tight, Christi❤️

An exquisite, heart wrenching performance by Dimash made even more poignant and meaningful by virtue of your own heartfelt emotional reaction. This is why you are at the top of my list of my favorite Dimash reviewers. I am down to about four channels now. I find that "less is more" and very few have your level of experience and understanding of music as well as true connection to music.

To sing such songs, you need to have a heart like Dimash's. It is for this unearthly purity of heart and soul that he captivates all admirers. It's like a breath of fresh air for a breathless person. Too bad it doesn't treat everyone. Rotten hearts and souls are not subject to him. But its role in the world is colossal.

I cried when I heard the music, and I cried in the reaction of her emotion when talking about her teacher, don't worry because you didn't miss her, she only advanced the trip, God has a plan for us all, pacify your heart.

One small (but in my book extremely important) fact most commenters overlook is that the pianist was also a student of the late composer and was selected expressly for that reason. Hence the intense emotion in the accompaniment as well.

From what I've heard, his teacher was inspired by a poem from a poet who wrote it for his daughter's coming of age. I think the title means Apple of my Eye, and the teacher had a daughter who died, so he wrote the song for her, and Dimash sings it as tribute for his teacher. Dimash seems to have a penchant for singing tribute songs in particular. 😌 Feel free to correct me.
