"Gone Too Soon" was dedicated to the memory of Michael's friend Ryan White, a teenager from Kokomo, who was then shunned, taunted, bullied, and threatened with violence by his classmates and community. Fellow students called him a "queer" and treated him like a leper. Members of his local church refused to shake his hand. Neighbors on his paper route cancelled their subscriptions. Eventually, he was forced out of his middle school. White's mother Jeanne commented on the friendship, "It's a really good relationship. They have a good time. [Michael Jackson] treats [Ryan White] like he's not sick. And Ryan treats Michael like he's not a celebrity." Jackson later bought Ryan a red Mustang convertible, his dream car, for his birthday. Just months later, however, Ryan died. The next day, Michael arrived in Indiana. He sat in Ryan's empty room for hours, looking at his souvenirs, clothes, and pictures. "I don't understand when a child dies," he later said. "I really don't." Ryan's mother, Jeane, offered to let MJ have whatever he wanted as a keepsake, but he told her just to keep everything in his room as it was. In the front yard was the red Mustang Jackson had given Ryan, covered with flowers from well-wishers. Ryan's sister, Andrea, got in the car with Jackson. When he turned it on, "Man in the Mirror" began to play. It was the last song Ryan had listened to.

This performance is amazing. In my opinion this was Michael's last truly great live vocal performance. However you are mistaken, Michael didn't write this song. It was written by Larry Grossman and Buz Kohan years before MJ recorded it in 1991. Dionne Warwick performed it a decade before this on TV in 1983.

Hey Valerie, I always love your MJ reactions! I was a little sad though that Michaels touching speech before the song was not included. This song was written in tribute to Ryan White, a teenager who got AIDS and was banned from his school because of the AIDS stigma. Michael befriended him and his family without fear, just like he sometimes did against doctors advise went into sick children in hospitals ❤️ When Ryan sadly passed, Michael released this song to honor and remember his friend. There is much more MJ to do, I am really looking forward to it as always Thank you so much and god bless ❤️

Most beautiful! Thank you! The reaction to the pure emotions that Michael could trigger by virtue of his voice and energy is so genuine, so authentic, it is amazing! Only very few singer and songs cause this reaction for me, Michael Jackson , Dimash and Loreena McKennit are most powerful and have this effect. You´re right, the Clintons ruined the footage somewhat, some of the most evil people on the planet along with all other sociopaths - we know their names! I've asked before, but still would love for you to do a dual reaction to the studio recording of Music and Me by Michael Jackson as well as the live performance of the song in Mexico in 1975. The recorded song is 1 of my all time favorite Michael Jackson songs and perfectly illustrates that beautiful soft boy soprano texture and control MJ had from an early age. The live performance is also great and very interesting, because he chose to belt the whole song instead. I hope you can get to them! And thanks again for this great reaction to this great artist!

@@4evermichael88 You seem to know many things about Michael, so I'm sure you know he can sing,he was doing it from the age of 5.I don't care if he did playback or not to that song in that concert .I choose it because I love very much how the song was so beautifully put together on stage,it was like a prayer for help, from a man to another and from our guardian angel. If you want to listen Michael really live ,singing this song ,see for the dangerous tour rehearsals. If you don't like what Michael did, don't search for him, because it's easy to criticize but what he did on stage it wasn't easy at all.All the best.

@@autumn7599 hey:) I'm so sorry if I came off as aggressive, that was never my intent. I think perhaps it's my lack of written English skills. In any case, I'm sorry. And yes, 100% Michael could sing! I'd argue he was one of the best male pop live singers ever, and as a studio vocalist there is no one who comes even close to him. And I agree, the "Will You Be There" performance on the Dangerous tour is brilliant, visually stunning and amazing! My point was only that Valerie is a professional vocal coach reacting to vocal performances, that's why found it odd that you wanted her to react to a lip synced performance when she then could have reacted to the official studio release instead, which has (almost) the same vocals but in much higher stereo quality. I am not in anyway bashing Michael Jackson, he is my idol and has been for 30 years. All my life. None of what I said was criticism though, it's just stating fact and in principle I think it is important that we honor MJ for the human being he was and not make him out to be some kind of super hero with no flaws. Michael was brilliant, he was phenomenal, but no, he wasn't perfect, he was human. Like all of us. An extraordinary human at that but still. And yes I agree, the Dangerous tour rehearsals showcases his still amazing vocal abilities, he sounds incredible on those. I love them! It is only natural that he wouldn't be able to sustain that vocal performance night after night on a grueling tour, it would have been inhuman. He was a touring live performer since he was 5 years old and never lip synced a note until his early 30s (except for a few TV performances), by the time the Dangerous tour came around he had been singing live on stage more than most performers do in their entire careers, combined. Michael was the King and I am in no way criticising him for increasingly relaying on pre-recorded vocals for his later tours and performances as an adult. I recent that you think I was criticising when I am an outspoken supporter for Michael in every aspect of his life and career. And yes, I do know alot about him and wasn't introduced to him through KZbin in retrospect. I was there when it all happened, I remember him and his career as it actually took place. He was a living human being to me, co-existing on this earth at the same time as me, not a historical figure only existing on the computer screen. I don't rely on KZbin and sensationalized Internet "information" on anything regarding Michael Jackson.

@@4evermichael88 I am glad to know that you are a long time fan of Michael..Sadly I get to know him better after he was no longer here ,maybe my life would've been different if I get to know him earlier i.He amaiz me till to this day,be it thru his music or thru his kindness..I do not consider him as a superhero,I don't like superheroes but for me he is a very special human beeing. It's not odd to me asking Mrs.Valerie to react to this song because she loves Michael and she would have appreciate his performance even tho she is a vocal coach and Michael lwas doing playback.. It's quite a challenge to be Michael Jackson fan, even today, because they don't leave him alone, just because he is the best and he wanted so much to bring joy and happiness to the people to help those in need.,he really wanted with pure heart..Well,I am glad there is YT,because only here you can find the real truth about Michael,on TV its nothing only bad things most of the time..Maybe you get to see him in person,or on concert which I think it's wonderful.

Have you done a reaction to Who's Lovin You from Jacksons: An American Dream soundtrack? It's from a 1971 J5 concert.

Hey, Valerie!! Congratulations for this choice!!! I love this performance so so much!!! It was the only chance to hear his real and beautiful voice, his technics, which I LOVE, in this song, written in memory of Ryan White, by Larry Grossman and Buz Kohan. I'm so touched and grateful by your reaction. Thank you!!❣

You should listen to Dirty Loops, rock you or any of their music. I believe it’s your type of music. A Swedish band , jazz/funk, with extra ordinary musicians
