This is her living room during lockdown, there's another 5 blockbuster WEST END performances in this session, MEMORY, HOME, SOMEONE LIKE ME, DEFYING GRAVITY and I can't think of the other one, she's absolutely brilliant, that's why I have been following her for the last 5yrs, there's only her and the brilliant SOHYANG from SOUTH KOREA that I really follow because these are genuine legendary ARTISTS, it's no coincidence that they are both Christian Ladies that bless us with there magnificence 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.

This performance was the perfect symbiosis of incredible song writing by Sarah and the most interpretive emotional singer out there today. I simply cannot watch this performance without tearing up. The words hit home for all those who wonder what could have been or should have been! Morissette provides a vocal that is absolutely gut wrenching all the way through down to the shredding of her last belt. Incredible interpretation by Mori. She also does what I call a SQUOWL the combination of a squeak and growl in the same moment of the line “ learns how to toughen up” ! I never heard anyone do that before . That performance is in a small room with mediocre equipment during the pandemic yet it stands out for me as THE DEFINITIVE version of that song now. What a surprise Mori exceeds the original right? Haha. That’s what she does.

You got the point: Mori is the most emotionally engaging singer I’ve ever seen. The voice is her instrument and I think she's a great singer but her acting and her expressiveness are no less. I don’t think it would be much difficult for her to sing with more classical technique on stage, less "poppish," but I challenge any Broadway singer to sing this song without an audience, without orchestra, alone at home in front of a camera with a recorded track and create an emotional experience as did Mori.

Thanks for a great reaction. You are spot on about Morissette. She is addictive. I listen to her everyday. This video was made at the height of the pandemic quarantine when there were no opportunities for live performances, and if you know anything about Morissette you know that live performance is her be all and end all. I've listened to this performance dozens of times now and what I've finally noticed is just how exceptional is her phrasing. To me, that really helps her sell the story with such conviction. Please check out Defying Gravity from this same session. Also, if you really want to see Morissette emoting, listen to Could You Be Messiah.

We told you so, she can do anything once she sets her mind to do it. There are times and shows when she is dared to try anything, sing any style, genre, and various positions and she just blows us all away with her abilities. There is absolutely nothing she can't do when she applies all of herself. I beg to differ with your concept of not being able to let yourself be free to do any style of vocal tactic on Broadway it really depends on the director if they are fancy-free and stick to traditions and persona of "it's my way or the highway"

Hello, Teacher Rene. This has got to be one of the best reaction videos I've watched to Morissette's "She Used To Be Mine". I could feel your sincerity and how Mori moved you to tears watching this beautiful performance. I think that's what sets Mori apart from other singers, she has such a wide range in her vocal abilities that she is capable of doing various genre of music excellently. That she can cover a lot of songs and keep close to the originals, and still she can add her touches to make them her own, at times even better than the originals. We're glad you are enjoying this awesome journey into Mori's world of music. You will always remember this year 2023 when you have discovered her. And we will be with along the way as you continue to explore and get to know her better, not only as an amazing vocalist and artist but also as a good person. 🥰

"How does she know that's gonna work?", you ask. Morissette has more musicality in her pinky than most other artists have in their entire body. If you watch some of her livestream impromptu performances, you will understand better. She can look up the lyrics and music to a song she hasn't sung in a long time and scroll the lyrics and music while playing a keyboard and sing like she has just rehearsed it 20 times. This is why Mori is the best. She just instinctively knows down deep when and where to place vocal techniques, emotions, etc.
