Somehow the English translation, which the reviewer has done literally, just does not do justice to Raja Mehdi Ali Khan saheb’s Urdu poem. Love this dude though. His expressions are so innocent, genuine & obvious. It’s so impressive. You can see from his expressions that music does indeed transcend language. They seem to touch his heart with right meaning. This is a new experience with this timeless brilliant masterpiece from Madanji. Love it!!!

Shreya is great and all about technicalities here. Her voice is inherently sweet, but Lataji’s sweet gentleness is missing. Sounds fab still. This version is the Ben Platt to Billy Joel’s Vienna. Hats off to the Tabla player who kept everyone on tempo and sounds great. Love the violinist, shows Indian training. His alaaps & riffs are bang on the raga Adana.
