Her Berkeley masterclass is also interesting. You would like it how she uses different techniques and expressions based on the mood of movie scenes and characters. It's very detailed and amazing.

Gosh .. I had goosebumps when you adequately found that improv at 12:00. I just did not expected that despite you being a genuine music scholar, you will nail it at 12:00 where sheya produced gem of improvisation for those 40 seconds .. the fact that you replayed it, not just paused, makes me absolutely clear that you are genius too! It gave me real goose bumps and I could not have seen a better reaction from anyone aksr but you - and this is kinda your tribute to real music lovers. I can’t thank you enough for making my day worth living. Lots of love and regards to an impeccable soul like you who understands and appreciate even the micro melismas and micro facial expressions along with subtle hand techniques- Just marvellous !! I’m sorry that I am watching this video months after you made it. But you truly made me your fan. I am amazed by your phenomenal understanding of Indian classic music. I had no idea that you will be so apt to precisely pick out that improvisation by Shreya at 12:00 timestamp. In the original video I just kept watching and listening those 40 seconds time and again - it’s just mesmerizing. I thought that you will be giving General reaction as a music scholar, but the moment you said “let’s watch it again”, you opened the floodgates of my emotions.. because very few people today can appreciate those intricate little melismas, subtle hand gestures depicting the ongoing ensemble and the great communication from their micro facial expressions. You are genius. In an instant, when you paused the music to watch again that improvisation, I became a lifelong fan of yours. God bless you and lots of love ! Regards from London Ontario !

I like how the author was able to differentiate the original song with this one . The accentuation , improvisation was spot on - I think hearing the original first is really an advantage. 🙂

Seeing the slowed down version of Shreya still blows my mind . She is basically an instrument at this point . This is inhuman . Every single song of her is a 5 star performance. Such a perfectionist , for years to come , Even if you don’t take her musical genius , as a human being , she is such a down to earth and humble human being . What a beautiful mix and soul . God bless her .

12:10 Ma'am if you want to know what made this special.. it's the Tabla player out of sight. The Tabla vadak lives for this open performance which is freedom. Offcourse Shreya is awesome. This is one of her personal pet songs. The hand movements are called "Hasthalipi" translation "the writing system of the vocalist.. it's a great way to learn and enjoy singing.

That "improvisation" at 12:30 is a typical raag bhairavi phrase. Been sung to death.. Bhairavi is perhaps the only and the most chromatic raag in Indian classical. Shreya has also chosen to do some chromatic runs in that phrase.
@YourOnlineSingingCoach Жыл бұрын
Thanks, that’s helpful to know!
@Thabadthabad Жыл бұрын
First: thats not bhairavi at all Bhairavi is phrygian This song is mostly in B , mostly B minor , that is asavari with 7th safed. Bhairavi is Sa re ga Ma Pa dha ni Sa Which in B is B C D E F# G A B But she took the leading tone there which is A#, She starts with the 5th, thats Pa or F# and goes up as F# G A B , then goes slightly back to A# for that tension and then holds B again. Had it been bhairavi there would not be any A# thats suddh Ni , theres no shuddh Ni in bhairavi. However theres in Bhairav(b2 b6, re dha) but then theres no komal ni in bhairav. Second : bhairavi is not at all the most chromatic raag in indian classical If one has to argue, it might just be todi

. Loving your videos, girl. ❤️ For a change maybe you can try doing shreyas song with a sargam like ‘mere dholna’ (also called ami je tomar in Bengali - particularly the live version (AAS Housewives Awards) It’s a very very difficult song especially during sargam part (last part) which should be listened in a stretch . I’d say probably one of the hardest songs in India It’s so difficult to do because she doesn’t have much breath or she is barely breathing there and goes low and high in one stretch, which is insanely hard to do . She has come a long way seeing her sing when she was a kid - many such videos on KZbin . Keep your work up ❤️ @Your Online Singing Coach

Violin guy is communicating to shreya goshal and to other musicians properly. But the guy you said, was not communicating properly. It because the violinist played a run an cued for shreya to sing, and that movement the string instrument tried to do play something weird note and violinist said, no, dont do that with his head while he playing. You can see that in the starting where she starts to sing.

She sings like a violin and sounds like a flute. Too much hard work (riyaz) and decades put into this precision in art of expressing the ar 21:03 t of India classical, a bit of pop or may be sometimes jazzy vocal. Prior to her in bollywood it was provably Alka Yagnik,, kavita Krishnamurti, Asha bhosale or the greatest of all Lata Mangeshkar. I am not doing justice to other many great singers however, these are like the best 4-5 Indian/ bollywood commercial female vocalists from India. Pakistan is whole another set of great singers from the same music culture and mostly language.

Agreed on this . Especially her live event at AAS Housewives Awards. I hope she doesn’t comment or pause during Sargam which is a mistake a lot of other reviewers do , let it finish fully and then comment . Shreya sings the sargam loop with 15-20% breath left but makes it look easy

we do not expect reaction in bit and pieces,it hinder the flow and fun of everything which is being reacted upon, this is not the way how you judge on anything, be it answer sheet of school, college examination, any cooking dish you taste any singing,dance or essay competition, you judge or give your opinion on final product not in between or in middle because in that way you could neither get a look on what they are up-to nor you could be able to assess the wholesome quality of the product, i find this amazing and kind of habit that most people from west suddenly start giving their opinion stopping the program in between and some of them even do not stop the program, i do not get how one can make their opinion without letting it complete properly and listening or watching it with full attention, it looks like it is their opinion/reaction which matter most to them than program itself , whereas people from Asia mostly save their reaction for the end and even Russian do it like this which is i guess is the proper way to react on anything, i am just giving words to my thoughts, do not get offended, nothing personal, take it like a suggestion, btw your reaction is good only problem is it breaks the flow and fun of anything you watch on because many a time for many of your audience it may be the first time to get to see that program so they love to enjoy program too with you and expect reaction in the end only, hope you got my point
