Great conversation, however surprised to not see Guenon and those who followed him discussed. He popularized the framework of committing to a chosen orthodoxy but still recognizing the validity of the other paths. The other very significant thing he would add to this conversation regarding "the time between worlds" is that this world must come to and end and that is also known as eschatology. Reign of quantity and signs of the times has to be one of the most prolific works on the topic

First of all I love the way you frame the conversation and honor the deep field of traditions Zak is rooted and at play within. His patience and grace are unmatched in this space as he recognizes and has set to work on a project that would metamorphose our shared human heritage. I would like to add that the Structure Phenomenologist Herbert Wiztenmann who was coming from a potent actuating lineage of Goethe and Steiner as he produced what he referred to as a "basic structure" to all organic form that allows for a "self-giving" that gives a firm and deep foundational non presumptive epistemologic structure rooted in a continuity of ontological creative participation. Interesting to note Witzenmann was rejected by Jaspers. If he had not been so ignored by the academy, likely the Steinerian lineage that has accomplished much in the way of"...First Principles..." and intiatives in the world despite would likely be easier to incorporate by folks such as Zak, Marc and Ken. I believe they/we would benefit. I know they all recognize and respect that that lineage.

@8:40 a great example of how and where the Steiner lineage has worked out this personhood "problem" as core to evolutionary agency and individual development is the late Jonael Schickler's Metaphysics as Christology: An Odyssey of the Self from Kant and Hegel to Steiner works this out based inspired by Witzenmann's basic structure.

I really appreciate this and have been aware of without delving much into Steiner. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

@@Voicecraft Thank you. You two match well in a very inviting way in the sense of adductive. I hope you will reconsider publishing part 2.

"Laws are the conditions under which men, naturally independent, united themselves in society. Weary of living in a continual state of war, and of enjoying a liberty which became of little value, from the uncertainty of its duration, they sacrificed one part of it, to enjoy the rest in peace and security. The sum of all these portions of the liberty of each individual constituted the sovereignty of a nation and was deposited in the hands of the sovereign, as the lawful administrator. But it was not sufficient only to establish this deposit; it was also necessary to defend it from the usurpation of each individual, who will always endeavour to take away from the mass, not only his own portion, but to encroach on that of others." - Cesare Beccaria (1764)

A wonderful discussion, and I like the idea of “evolving perennialism” a lot. The tension between “values” and “legal norms” is very tough, though I agree that if laws are based on a metaphysic, there is a possibility at least of their development and change without necessarily unveiling them as arbitrary. Anyway, always great to listen to Stein, and I appreciate you both.

Yes it's a little incomplete as a public release unfortunately, but the content itself across the topic explored I hope will be valuable. But definitely a taster..

Is it possible that the perennial future Zak is describing is already upon us? I'm making the case that in the West there is and has been for the past 150 years a perennial ethnocentricity brought about through multiculturalism and reified through law. For example principles like freedom of religion, or the sanctity of life resulting in laws making murder illegal, or even stealing. These are tenets originally brought forth in the core lineages, and now in modern law we are preserving these values.

Yes, this is the current manifestation of the evolving perrenialism. And imagine a future where we continued to integrate those values more completely, more holistically, and discover new dimensions of them. That would also be the evolving perrenialism.
