Most of the time, I record voice overs during editing. Before editing, I have the general idea of what to cover in the voice over, like a simple script, and then during recording it's just natural speech from high level points.

Hi Vignesh, first of all, I am fan of your videos' intro music and your closing - tata, tata, bye, bye, and the adventure will continue - more than anything else, it connects well with your audience as a brand recall value. Needless to say, I am the biggest fan of your Meghalaya series, not only for the great shots, but mainly because of the audio edit more than the video! The amount of research and self learning you must've done, especially for the audio part for the series, being a voice artist I can easily imagine that! AND TO ENJOY THESE MINUTE AUDIO THINGS - WEARING A GOOD QUALITY HEADPHONES WHILE WATCHING THE SERIES MORE ENJOYABLE! Hats off! Now, all the tips in this video are brilliant. Yes, the best results for voice recording you indeed get only when done during late hours of the night. More so, coz getting an entire room sound proofed is a relatively expensive affair - therefore using just 4-8 square sheets of absorbent foam is good enough - for now. The blanket idea is also very useful to douse unwanted noises while doing the VO, provided you know the script by heart. An additional tip could have been - to use the blanket method, make sure to remove specs if you wear one (coz your breathing inside the blanket will fog your spectacles and coz distraction), also remove any ear rings or metallic ornaments, which can and will produce even a slightest of jiggling sound. Further, make sure the table and chair you are using to sit and record doesn't make any 'squeaky' or unwanted noises coz if they do, your ears might miss it when cupped inside headphones. Easy solution - use old rubber sheets (like the ones used for babies when they sleep) under the legs of the chair and table legs. Further, you could add about microphone techniques, i.e., distancing your mouth from the mic when the pitch of the voice goes higher and so on - though I agree software can help you there, but when it comes to voice, I like my dependency on software to be minimum. Also, a good additional investment for video creators could be - Shure SM 58 microphone, a stand and a noise filter to be placed between the microphone and the mouth to absorb spurts or blasts of air while speaking into it. Further, if you wish to get a little baritone in your voice, keep sipping a glass of water with an ice cube in it before every voice take or retake (mind you, NOT ice cold water from the fridge coz that can turn the speaking voice sore.). Fantastic job of explaining the crests and troughs of voice on the editing tool. Overall, a very inspiring video for beginners who may not have the resources yet and wish to make optimum utilisation of available resources coz a creative mind should not be made to wait till the right gear arrives😊 Excellent video pal. Keep up the great work 🤘🏼😊🤘🏼
