Miracle of Sound, the writer of this song, gave Voiceplay a rating of ten raised alehorns out of ten for this version of his song. High praise indeed.

Great reaction! Let's see, My Mother Told Me is a prequel of sorts to this one. I believe it's recommended that Panic! In 4 minutes parts 1 & 2, Trapped: Billie Eilish in 3 minutes, and Mission: Jingle Bells be viewed in that sequence, possibly to be followed by Queen in Five Minutes. Warriors, Dream On and Seven Nation Army are generally seen as a trilogy. I'd also suggest watching Drunken Sailor before Hoist the Colours (but please do watch them both! They're awesome.) ETA: Oh, and over in Geoff's channel, it's Misty Mountains Cold before I See Fire, and Sixteen Tons and Big Bad John are sort of a pair, though I don't think the order for those two matters.

If it helps, Eli is short for Eliezer in his case. so not the usual Eli name, but said like ellie. Geoff and Layne have been singing together and friends since middle school, Eli joined them later. J.None too. And Cesar joined when J.None left to sing with the Navy music section. That's it very briefly. There have been others over the years who you will see in earlier videos. When their original beatboxer left the group Geoff did some then showed Layne the basics, to concentrate on being the bass. Layne has since gone from strength to strength but still sings occasionally too. As for J.None rapping, he did it in their cover of Superstition too. To be fair, Home Free's vocal percussionist , Adam Rupp, is just as talented, some would say even more so, but I don't like to compare. Let's say they have somewhat different styles.
@karenponchak5304 Жыл бұрын
The biggest difference between Adam and Layne is that Adam focuses on more acoustic drum sounds (like hearing a real drum set), while Layne is more focused on electronic sounds (like hearing a drum machine and/or synthesizer).

And since ‘sound effects’ were mentioned in the reaction - that is Layne doing the creaky door sound as J enters the longhouse.

Geoff hurt himself for this one to get that low B0 he held at the beginning. He does what he calls light trauma to his vocal cords. Also as he is getting older he is getting lower. We will all be here no matter what you choose off of VoicePlays or Geoff channels.

Geoff's lower note that I know of is a B0, and he hits it 3 times during this song, the first one being at the beginning, when J None alone sings that "...Meeeee" and Geoff starts that long, super low note that seems to last forever. He only hit a B0 (twice) before in "Halo Theme" 🙂. Some say that he slides down to an A0 I don't remember in which song, but the lowest SUNG note he sang up to today is B0... Which is the third key of a regular 88 keys piano 😱. Yep, Geoff taught Layne to beatbox, and then Layne took off from there and became the absolutely freaking beatboxer he is today 🙂. And he can also sing with a sweet warm baritone voice. Eli is pronounced "Ellie", and is short for Eliezer, his high range is just stunning, but he can go down as well and, if I remember correctly, he sang an A1 since, which is freaking low. 🙂 Cesar finally showed his berserk side here, we were used to hear is breathy, soft, sweet voice before, and this came as a bit of a surprise. He's actually very versatile and has been a very important addition to Voiceplay, IMHO. And he also brings coffee! 😅 J None has a beautiful voice and a nice range as well. He's currently singing BASS with the Navy so you can imagine. I still hope that he'll be back with Voiceplay once he's done with the Navy. Well, actually, I feel like he's never left and is still part of the family. 🙂 See you next time!

For recommendations, I’d love to see reactions to their ‘post-apocalyptic’ songs. Begins with Imagine Dragon’s “Warriors” (which has a surprise from Layne & J). It was done before left for the Navy and includes another older member (Earl of the exceptionally high notes). Second in the ‘series’ is their cover of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” after Cesar joined them and featuring Omar Cardona, who has worked with them for several great songs. And third is “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes. All 3 songs go pretty hard and each amazing in their own way. Not part of the ‘series’ but easily could have been except for a different’look’ is their cover of Imagine Dragons’ “Enemy”

J None did a shorter, slower rap section in Superstition that amazed us all at the time... about 3 years ago. Layne has also done short rap sections - but in this one J None blew it out of the park.

Three sustained B0s by Geoff. His lowest note is a growl A0 in Enemy. J None is in the US Navy because they recruited him for his vocal skills! Layne did the creaking door. Eli rhymes with jelly. Cesar has incredible diction in this. A few incredible ones to react to: Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Halo theme, Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (Eli arranged), Drunken Sailor, an apocalyptic trilogy - Warriors (Imagine Dragons) - Dream On (Aerosmith) - Seven Nation Army (White Stripes).

I have been a Voice Play fan since last year. They are my favorite A Cappella group with Van Canto as a close second. I love the classic "Hoist the Colors", "You are Welcome" and for fun "The Chipmunk Song" They have a great cover of "In the Air Tonight" as well. Excellent reaction.❤️ 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

Most of the music that Voiceplay does is unfamiliar to me, cause I'm old. Doesn't matter, they are masters at what they do. When I wake up in the middle of the night their music is already running in my head. Thanx again for watching the outro, I know it helps. That's why I watch yours.

Oh please do check out more!! There has been some great suggestions below - but I am biased because I love their Rock covers. However any genre they touch turn to awesome so honestly, take your pick 😉.

Well. I usually don't subscribe to reactors my first time watching them, but I'm so impressed that you already know Eli (rhymes with "jelly"), Layne, Geoff and J. None's names, I subscribed. You knew everyone but Cesar, the newest member and master of facial acting-he's the one with the...uh...what would you call it? "Mohawk ponytail?" LOL! Also, given your appreciation for this, I just have to see you react to them some more!

I was told, that Geoff taught Laney to beatbox. Geoff often helps with beatboxing, when laney sings etc. Also Laney has also a wide Range and helps Geoff out when necessary. Oh I forgot Laney is also a learned violinist. Elmar from Germany, have a pleasant weekend.

This always surprises me. When Geoff sings "...shields and spears" at the end of his first solo, the "spears" is an F#1. The long sustained note he hit just before he started his solo is a B0 - and B0 is over 1/2 octave LOWER than F#1, but everyone always freaks out on the F#1 at the end of Geoff's solo.
@aussiebloke609Ай бұрын
I think a lot of people simply miss that he's singing that sustained B0 - it's so smooth it almost hides.

I would highly recommend Warrior's and My Mother Told Me by Voiceplay. As well as Nothing else matters, dream on, seven nation army, queen in 5 minutes

Geoff can sing to the last key of the piano.

All the group is is outstanding. But a lot of attention goes to Geoff's lows - what is also amazing is that Eli is up in Beyonce territory. One reactor did a comparison between Eli and a few top female vocalists, Eli matched them. Just wow.
@DravenGal Жыл бұрын
Actually, I believe Geoff's lowest is a B0, which you can here him sing under J. None singing "me" in the beginning. And yep, you're already doing the "Geoff's range eye-roll" along with the "HOW DOES HE DO IT Exasperated Sigh..." One can't avoid them, when one listens to Voiceplay and Geoff's solo stuff. This is my favorite song by them. I listen to it on repeat for hours. My second fave is "Hoist the Colors," so I recommend that one. Actually, there isn't a song/video by them I DON'T recommend. For something a little more mainstream, maybe "Golden Hour?" It has Geoff's wife in it, who works with them on all their videos! Especially Geoff's solo stuff. He also just released himself narrating "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Talk about goosebumps!

EVERYTHING FROM THEM IS PERFECT. BUT THEIR COVER OF NOTHING ELSE MATTERS BY METALLICA HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART. THAT WAS BEFORE I FELL UPON THEIR COVER IF I WERE A RICH MAN/GIRL. NOW I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHICH I PREFER THE MOSTSO HEAR THEM BOTH TO HAVE YOUR OWN OPINION. A SUSCRIBER FROM GREECE.
@johndeeregreen459211 ай бұрын
In reality, the first extended note he did was a B0 and the lowest note in the song... a B0 is only 2 keys from the lowest note on a piano.
