Layne: Hey! It would be neat to put Odin's war horn in there somewhere. Geoff: Hold my mead.

They have been killing it the last few months! Read and stole: Laine to Geoff: How long can you hold this low note? Geoff: Yes.

VoicePlay hold their own vocally I think compared to PTX and Home Free but excel in terms of drama. Wait until you see Hoist The Colours. Nice reaction though.

Ha, I have seen that "look" from Geoff's first foghorn note too many times... I am sure I have had the same look before, lol.

VoicePlay has been on a crazy exponential curve of improvement lately. I don't know how they keep upping the stakes, but they do. It's like they have really tuned into their creative voice lately, and have been in the process of truly perfecting their art. Like everyone else is saying, Hoist the Colours (from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise) is the latest, and most impressive piece they're created, I believe. It also features Jose Rosario Jr., as well as new baritone Cesar De La Rosa, and to be frank, this song is knocking reactors down, hard. People walk away without a word at the end, and "what is happening?!" is heard uttered on nearly every video at least once. One guy forgot he wasn't wearing pants and jumped clean out of his seat. I can pump it up all day, but it will still catch you off guard when you finally watch it. There really isn't any good way of preparing for it. Have fun with it!

I was patiently waiting for your reaction to Geoff’s descent into the bowels of the earth. 😂 Not disappointed! I would HIGHLY recommend their recent cover of Hoist The Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean. WHOA. The production, the mood, the vocals...it’s epically done. Great reaction!! 🥰

Hoist the colours is unreal. There are no words!

Not only that, it is the spiritual descendant of this song- including featuring Jose Rosario Jr. again! From Vikings to Pirates- and an arrangement that has been literally leaving reactors speechless, assuming they didn't simply toss their headphones aside and walk away. No, seriously. People have done that.

Michael, honestly your jaw dropped so low on some of this I think we could have given you a full dental exam and had room for our elbows it was so wide open. The one universal thing to remember is that people change. Artists change. What they do now is not what they will do in even one or two albums or releases. To Learn is to Grow, if you don't learn something new, EVERY SINGLE DAY, you're EXISTING, not LIVING. Skills grow in time and most of the singers I've heard the maturity to their voices adds depth, it adds flavour and colour and every other "our" you can think of because they grow as artists. They learn new skills and the more you practice on an instrument the better you tend to get. Great reaction as always. Have a great day everyone. Take care.

I'm still trying to appreciate their music. When I heard their song Hoist The Colours", I loved it. I immediately bought their song in iTunes. I then scrolled to see if they had a similar sea shanty/Viking song and found this. I also bought this song.

These guys are the #TheaterKids of the a capella scene. They’re all in it for the music, but these guys, especially, put on a *show.*

I love that VoicePlay surprises me, time after time. I love that their musicianship is meticulous, their arranging skills astonishing, and their sense of engagement in each piece is total. This one was arranged - impeccably - by Layne (the beatbox). Now give Hoist the Colors a listen; if possible, it's even better - it was arranged by Geoff, the bass. (And in both cases, the individual arranging also did the video) The talent in this group goes deeper than Geoff's voice.

Cesar de la Rosa eventually took Earl Elkins place. J None was recruited into the US Navy for his vocal talents. During his going away party he said he would be back. VP has not filled his spot and instead has used featured artists and that really has sounded spectacular. You heard Omar Cardona (brother to EJ Cardona of Voctave) in Dream On. The purity of the two brothers voices is very similar. I didn't discover Geoff until The Monster Mash came up on my KZbin videos I might like. Monster Mash is my favorite Halloween song so I checked it out, found that there was a group of them called VoicePlay. Started playing them and love what they do. I have checked out PTX and Home Free. Loved PTX with Bohemian Rhapsody and Mary Did You Know and Hallelujah, these were the top of the PTX list for me, some Home Free and they also have some great moments but VoicePlay speaks my language, love the staging, costuming, the miniature movies they make and the stories they tell. I hope you venture out for more. They did 2 Imagine Dragons covers recently, Warriors (not purely acapella but fabulous) and Enemy (with AleXa a KPop star who won Best American Song this year, American / half S. Korean, lives there, did her part of Enemy in S. Korea and sent it over, Layne did the arranging with Eli's help especially incorporating AleXa's video. It's flawless. Halo and Dragonborn Comes Skyrim are amazing. Geoff has done Bill Withers "Ain't No Sunshine" which I've loved for 50 years, and Elvis Presley's "Way Down" a lighter hearted offering.

I hate to say it since Earl left they seem different but so much for the better. They are using more of their singers especially in Eli, who seems like a hidden treasure. Between this hoist the colors they need to keep making like this

LOL - and the subharmonics get another mouth to drop open! This isn't their best, but given the original it's really good and shows both Eli's (pronounced L-E) gritty 'metal scream' tenor and Geoff's (Jeff) deep bass and skill with subharmonics. Layne, their beatboxer did the arrangement.

I love this song, not sure about all the odd costumes and their attempt at portraying what I can only imagine are barbarians perhaps the Norse during the Viking Era. Still a good song. I enjoy the diversity in vocals
