Believe it or not, this is likely to be both the most common, and the less indicated song to be introduced to Voiceplay, at least IMHO. They're excellent at character voices, but to me they give their best when they sing in their "normal" voices.🙂 They cover pretty much all genres, from funny and/or creepy Halloween stuff like this to Broadway songs and medleys, from classic rock songs like "Carry on Wayward son" or Aerosmith's "Dream on" or Metallica "Nothing Else Matters" to sweet, emotional classics like "Can't help falling in love", "True colors", "I can't make you love me", to more "jazzy" songs like "Superstition" or Viking stuff like "My mother told me" and "Valhalla calling", from video games soundtracks ("The Dragonborn comes - Skyrim" or "Halo Theme") to Walt Disney songs and medleys (their latest release is "Hellfire" from Hunchback of Notre Dame", but they covered as well "We don't talk about Bruno" from Encanto... And it was good enough to make Disney hire them to perform it in a private corporate event 😇) and a number of medleys from other movies ("The little Mermaid", £Frozen 2"...), and more. They're theatric and fun, and incredibly skilled as well. 🙂 Choose any of their song straight from their catalogue, you'll never be disappointed. 🙂 Geoff ("Jeff") Castellucci, the bass singer who had the lead here, has his own solo channel too. Another wonderful rabbit hole... I'd suggest you to begin with the "Hobbit" pair, "Far over the Misty Mountains cold" and "I see fire". But remember that ALL the people you see and ALL the voices you hear are just Geoff layering himself... and taking advantage of his 5 octaves range. 😅 Just subscribed in anticipation for more Voiceplay, Home Free, and Geoff. 🙂 See you next time!

#TheatreKidsOfACapella. Love anything VoicePlay and the bass Geoff Castelluccis covers. VoicePlay and Home Free were on The Sing-Off together. Geoff arranged Elvira for Home Frees cover with the Oak Ridge Boys. VoicePlay does everything from Mittalica to Disney. They are independent and do most everything themselves. Geoff also has his own channel and does low-bass covers. He loves the old songs. I found him first with his cover of Tennessee Earnie Ford's "Sixteen Tons". He led me to VoicePlay fell down the rabbit hole and became a patron to both. They have never disappointed me.

I always have loved Sixteen Tons ever since I was a young kid. They are absolutely amazing and spectacular and I will definitely do much more of them soon. Welcome to the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole. Next door is the Geoff Castellucci Rabbit Hole (he is the bass singer for Voiceplay). Both are worth the trip. They are part of the Trifecta of Accapella groups. It truly is amazing what the three groups can do, you can easily forget there are no instruments. Glad you enjoyed this song. Oooh I love that someone turned you onto VoicePlay! I am a huge VP and Pentatonix fan - you are going to really enjoy these guys! Geoff (pronounced Jeff) will blow your socks off with his sub bass notes! But yeah, saw someone else recommend headphones, definitely a good idea for these and pentatonix, I thank you for your sacrifice, I know how much you hate wearing them!

That's true but I can wear them for a few minutes, it won't kill me. Yes I am so thankful that people requested Voiceplay and PTX . They are absolutely amazing and fabulous. I had never heard a cappella before but it is amazing. Someone also recommended Home Free and they were great too. I have Geoff scheduled in a couple weeks so I can see what he can do solo. They actually started in high school 1997 as 4:2:Five (You can see some of their history at the end of their Halo theme video). They changed the name to VoicePlay in 2012. In Oogie Boogie's Song, three of the original members are still here - Geoff (bass), Layne (beatboxer) and Earl (high tenor) big guy with high character voice. Earl left VoicePlay after nearly 25 yrs for personal reasons. The others are Eli (like jelly) high tenor, and J None (baritone w/R&B vibes). Eli went to one of the area schools and his chorus competed against VoicePlay's. When he graduated he was in a rock band or two and in 2010, joined VoicePlay. J None replaced Tony Wakim (can see him in Phantom of the Opera) in 2019 when Tony wanted to start a production studio. He and Layne went in on that together, and started Pattycake Productions where a lot of VoicePlay's and Geoff Castellucci's solos are filmed. J None was recruited into the US Navy (5 yr stint) 2.5 yrs ago for his vocal talents. He said he'd be back and has come back several times to perform with VoicePlay: Friends on the Other Side (Disney - Princess and the Frog), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), Valhalla Calling (Miracle of Sound), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Hellfire (Disney - Hunchback of Notre Dame). Cesar came on when both Earl and J None left the group. One of his audition tapes with VoicePlay and Adrianna Arellano as guest artist is We're Good (Dua Lipa), which is incredible. Cesar is both tenor so he fills both slots as necessary. The remaining slot is filled by terrific vocalists that VoicePlay knows from their work at Disney, Universal and other theme parks in Orlando.

Welcome aboard, and hold on to your hat! You're in for some great stuff. Other commenters have already recommended these guys' cover of Nothing Else Matters, Dream On and Wayward Son, but I'll add to that list of classics their version of Phil Collins's In The Air Tonight, their mega-collaboration with Camp A Capella of Don't Stop Believin', and their medley-as-a-story, Queen in Five Minutes. A Disney medley of theirs that's not to be overlooked is Moana. Also seconding the recommendation of Hoist the Colours from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Really though, you cannot go wrong with either VoicePlay or Geoff, so pick anything that catches your eye!

Voiceplay do go to town with Halloween and Christmas too, but many of their videos are theatrical and always fun and so good. It's their productions that set them apart from other a capella groups, with costimes, sets and so on. But the arrangements are to die for and often very moving. Not sure why you talked about 1944 but that's the year I was born!

Enjoy voiceplay. I always say this is a good gateway into them, woth them doing character voices. Some of their more recent ones you may like in the air tonight, nothing else matters, hell fire, hoist the flag as well. More dramatic is the triology of trapped , followed by both parts of panic in the disco. For their silly sence of humor then drunken sailor. They have something for everyone

You can't go wrong with Voice Play. They do all genres of music. Check out their covers of 'Nothing Else Matters' from Metallica or 'Dream On' from Ayrosmith (spelling doesn't count here).
