This cover has been in the works for several years, with Omar Cardona the original choice for collaborator, but they couldn't make the schedules work out. Makeup was by Rick Underwood and Renette Feren. The "progressive zombie infection" was Rick's idea. Having a carrot as part of Layne's zombie look was Geoff's idea. It was Kathy's idea, during setup for the shoot, to have Layne kick "her" away. The doll Layne kicks resembles Kathy's character thanks to Rick Underwood's magic and is from Spirit Halloween. They call her Greta the Gruesome (actually, she's Little Greta and Kathy is Big Greta). Fun fact: once he becomes a full-fledged zombie, Geoff never blinks when on screen.

Oh Jenn!! I have seen multiple reactions to the Voiceplay “THRILLER NIGHT”; but yours is The BEST!!! I am an analytical guy, and love your analysis of music videos. I love seeing your reactions to different parts of the music video and are so enthralled by it. Give me all the half hour VP analyses please. 😆 I feel like this is a very meta video. The story is VP have decided to cover Thriller and they invite back their good pal JNone. It's the day of the shoot and things seem to be going normally, but this is VP and hijinks begin to ensue. J is trying to stay professional, but that look he gives as Geoff is taken by the rest of the guys is just too good. You know he's thinking, oh my gosh you guys are so weird....why did I agree to do this....why do I keep coming back here.....🤣 And then I like to think the end of the video is symbolic that J is always a part of VoicePlay. He doesn't have a choice. 😁

Geoff spent the entire time up to the first chorus building to the original bass line. Slowly adding bits and pieces until he put the whole thing together. It was brilliant!

"Almost stops your heart" I like that. One thing I've noticed about Voiceplay is that they tend to use the lyrics literally, which influences the singing style somehow. You pointed this out a bit later, re: freezing on the word "paralyzed" 😊

I noticed that too! It took me a few watches to figure out why Geoff was so mesmerizing during that spoken word part, I mean besides the obvious factors that always make him mesmerizing. But yeah, it's that he doesn't blink the entire time. It definitely adds another layer of spookiness. I wonder if he did it on purpose or if the shots used just happened to line up that way.

@katthor7311 with Geoff, there's no telling. It very well could be a conscious effort since it was from when he rose as a zombie to the end. Even funnier when Eli, Cesar, and Layne all blink at least twice. (There aren't any clear enough shots of J to know if he does or not.)

I think this is going to be one of my all time favorite All Hallows' Eve videos and songs ever. JNone's vocal range and runs are epic and the harmonies of the rest of VP are so good. Eli's belts give me goosebumps. Your reactions and analysis are always spot on Jen and I always learn something new

I so enjoyed your enjoyment of VoicePlay's little horror movie! In Geoff's monologue, there are several words where he gets down so low that he moves into vocal fry, perhaps something he's started doing since he became so accomplished at subharmonics? Just take a listen to the last half, and you'll actually be able to hear his vocal folds slapping together on words like, "corpse's SHELL", "FIGHT to stay ALIVE", "BODY starts to SHIVER".
