The proposal was peace treaty in a form of two state solution , dividing land 80/20 , 80% for Palestinians and 20% located in Jerusalem for the Jews. The Jews who were running from Holocaust accepted this while the Palestinians did not . Palestinians demanded Jews to leave and threaten them if they don't. Several more peace propositions were made before 1948 to Palestinians , all of which rejected. Todays mess is largely result of one side rejecting coexistence with the other.

I also stand for peace and safety. But sometimes you must defend yourself, or you're gone. And what good is peace and safety then? If Israel doesn't respond to October 7th it is very likely their enemies will see it as weakness. This would likely make October 7th the start of a pattern, instead of a singularly abominable event. In my opinion, Israel has the right to push back against that. H@mas was almost certainly banking on it. They were picking a fight. What bothers me most now is how H@mas, apparently, made zero attempt to get their civilians out. In fact, H@mas told their people _not to_ evacuate. This disgusts me more than anything. Yes, Israel's response can be seen as being too much. I won't disagree. But when Hamas uses hospitals to shield their fighters with the young, the sick, and the dying, they're fair game, IMO. I don't agree with the excessive bombing, but at the same time, if Hamas is such a wonderful organization, they wouldn't have precipitated this onslaught. And they knew damn well what Israel's response would be. Is Netenyahu my pick? No, he's too hawkish. He's way too right-wing for my liking. But at the same time, Israel needs someone like him at this point in time. And make no mistake, by letting Hamas get away with it, they'll simply try again. They don't care about the people. If they diid, they wouldn't be building tunnels underneath hospitals and attacking innocent Israelis. I'm stunned at the ignorance at those people interviewed. I agree. I have started reading the Times of Israel, and on their webpage they also show live footage. They explain how because all the tunnels lead under all the buildings, this has compromised all the buildings as they try to get to the tunnels. And while CNN are reporting on the carnage and death at Shifa Hospital and how doctors are saying they are trapped and being attacked by the idf, the Times of Israel reports that the IDF has offered to help evacuate the pediatric unit and are working on safe passage for them. So the media outlets that are acting as Hamas' mouthpiece are very dangerous and spreading disinformation.
