As a kid my father would take us all to the bluegrass festivals where I would sit down next to these greats and listen to them play. My favorite will always be the "Tennessee Hound Dog". I would always be requesting that song from them.

For 4 or 5 years in the early and mid-'70s my family went to the Georgia State Bluegrass Festival in Lavonia. We saw the Osborne Brothers and many other greats of bluegrass and country on stage. Some of the best music, though, was heard out in the parking lots (pastures where everybody parked) when some of the acts would relax with a drink and a smoke and play for the pure joy of it, and many a concertgoer would get out their instruments and join in. It was wonderful and I miss it terribly.

@@UncleBubba13 I know what you mean. I too would walk through the cars in the parking areas listening to folks pickin and singing. I was in Maryland then but now I'm in the mountains of Tennessee and I am thinking of contacting local musicians and giving them a place to assemble and pick for local folks here.
