@@VoicesofHistory i wish i could link you up with this man but as the last time i hear of him he has retired, working way past his prime, he lives between vietnam and Canada as he has kids in both countries and he is enjoying his life finally god willing i would not want to find him to drag him back into this, i seen him cry when he told me about some stuff the vc did and he was the hardest guy i ever met, the hardest, i wouldnt do that to him. but i think if you want to interview people you should not overlook Canada maybe try posting in places or finding contacts, Canada has around 250 000 Vietnamese people my city alone has 38 000, if somehow you can find these guys wich i know they are there you could get stuff that history wont teach us.

Lieutenant Lam, I love you. I was with US Army 1st Brigade 5th Infantry in 1968-1969 in Quang Tri. I never had a bad incounter with a Viet local. They all were humble gratefule human beings

Watching this Ranger's eyes well up remembering the loss of his fellow Rangers is very moving. I was in the 92nd. ARVN Border Rangers in Loc Ninh and An Loc battles. When he said you turn over your dead to scavenge what supplies he had to use for your survival is very real. This is what you did to survive.

My 2 uncles who were Paratroopers in the 101st Airborne Division who were in separate infantry battalions told me how brave the South Vietnamese Ranger Battalions and Paratroopers were during joint combat operations. They were very well versed in helicopter assaults or air assault operations and recon missions. First and foremost all have parachute training prior to becoming Rangers which is big respect with American Paratroopers. The Vietnamese Ranger and Paratroopers were the best fighting men of South Vietnam.

During the end of the Vietnam war there were many people from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos being brought to the U.S. There was a large community of them living not far from me at the time. My Mother was a school teacher and the children and the parents that arrived as war refugees treated her with such love and respect. Many of the teachers in Vietnam were killed/executed by the communist as they did not want them teaching anything but the communist doctrine. Just before my Mother past in 2008 she sent me many items, one of which was a very beautiful small hand stitched piece of cloth made by one of the mothers of a Laotian child my Mother had as a student. It was her way of thanking my mother for being her child's teacher that year. It is a true treasure to me today. Lam Bui passed on January 22, 2021. As a way to honor him and continue the message he wanted so many more to know about, Please share this video and remember to mention and educate people on the 1.6 million valiant south Vietnamese soldiers that fought and died trying so hard to keep their country free. ❤ Edit add on: Love and blessings to you Larry, thank you so much for making this available. ✝

I am grateful for your kind words and this amazing comment. What a blessing you are. I hope someday our paths will cross. I was sad today to find out that Lam had left us. This is a part of my work nobody knows about, a very personal side which haunts me daily. Many days I suffer in silence at the loss of so many of my Veterans. I am getting ready to release another interview with a south Vietnamese man who served with the Republic of Vietnam Navy. I interviewed him and Lam at the same time. This man has also passed away. Both men expressed great sorrow that no one seems to want to talk about the 1.6 million SV soldiers killed during the war. Well I am ready to help tell their story.

Thank you, II Lt Lam Bui and Voice of History. The V/N peoples' story must be told to us all. I only hope this interview has released some charge from his experiences and he is able to tell more details of the gruesome side of war and the cover up of all the suffering. We must hear this, particularly the easily-bruised younger generation, or the politicians and bankers will keep us at each others throats. I hope this man realizes he is in a amazing position to reach a great part of the world's population with the truth. In the 1980's I was in NZ and an English teacher to the V/N "boat-people", so I have a great reality on what happened. Now, Taiwan under the threat of the same crazed Chinese Communists, I feel for this guy and all the others like him. How come the USA and "Free World" happily built the Communist Chinese into a full-on War Machine as it is today? Beijing Biden and Son are big CCP supporters.

This man kind of got my eyes wet ; his view of his country and our effort is due respect but he knows we did not just quit. Viet Nam was his homeland. I can tell his heart has been nearly torn out of his body, and all of his country. His personal bravery is evident. I did not serve--tried to enlist to become a Navy corpsman attached to the USMC. Rejected because I was a legitimate CO, but they say a severe back injury in H S disqualified me. But, not too beat up to be a grunt-- they must have decided I was not worth the hassle. Made me a 1-Y.

It's true, when we were young, we were taught about the Vietnam war, but not much was mentioned about south Vietnam soldiers that were fighting. The ear in Vietnam, was not ancient history when I was in school, it was still well ongoing. I didn't really understand it when I was a boy. But I remember Vietnam was in the news everyday at that time, in the early 1970s. It was always In the news papers, every day. By hearing and listening to these stories, I'm understanding the war so much better. Thank you sir, you're a great American citizen in my eyes,and a man of fine character. Thank you Larry of course for this 9ne,it's pretty cool to hear about the war from Lams perspective.

I have replied to some of your viewers before when asked about my uncle being a POW for 15 years, in addition to my brother being killed in an intense battle, the war in Vietnam killed so many, ripped millions of family apart, over a war that was not destined to win, because when our B-52 bombers got Hanoi in it's knees, China intervened and we stopped, right at the verge of winning. Thank you Lam. So glad you survived.

Thank You Lt. Lam for everything your doing here and while in Vietnam. Especially bringing awareness to people that not just the U.S. was involved with fighting the communist invasion of South Vietnam but other countries helped also. As an American Advisor 1968-69 in the Mekong Delta I was with a group of six Philippines for 8 months. We all gave 110% from the South China Sea thru the Mekong River to Cambodia and Camau Peninsula area to the further south. So unless a Soldier was with the 9th Division or Brown Water Navy they would have no idea this was going on. I gave up talking about this 50 plus years ago so Thank You Lt. Lam

People can debate how the Americans executed the war in Vietnam; i.e. whether our strategies and tactics were effective. My issue with the war is that we didn't have a plan to WIN. I believe that is because of the political pressure at home; especially after Tet in 68. The perception was that Tet was evidence that we were not winning. In reality, although Tet was a surprise, the Vietcong were decimated during Tet. What can not be debated in my opinion is the reason WHY we were there. Lam explains that clearly. We were there to fight for FREEDOM. Every veteran, American and ARVN, should be proud of that.

No disrespect to Lieutenant Lam I could tell he cared about his troops very passionate about his country 💯☺️but it didn’t matter if they had M-16s same out come , We drop more bombs on that country then in World War II come on the south Vietnamese government was corrupt and the ranking officers of the south Vietnamese army were corrupt and did not pay the soldiers so most the time it wasn’t worth them staying to fight, towards the end 1973 before the fall of Saigon they had a brigadier general South Vietnamese army who rally the troops and fought towards the end he ran out of bullets and held a communist he was captured when he could have easily got on a helicopter To safety but he chose to stay with his troops I don’t know his name☺️

He made a short description on how the war came about. I can recall my father talking about the problems the French were having both before and after the UN interceded with partition. America had troops in Viet Nam during that time and had Eisenhauer went forward with more infrastructural defensive support prior to partition, it is remotely possible that Viet Namese citizens could have survived. It almost appears that if the UN had not partitioned, thus allowing free external intervention from the Communist Axis, the allies that did deploy to the Viet Nam War could just as well saved Viet Nam with material supplies instead of filling body bags.

South Vietnam is a more of a lesson in sometimes no matter even how hard you try, you can fail spectacularly and sometimes it's better to leave for greener pastures. Many South VIetnamese exiles are still bitter, hopefully one day all Vietnamese can reconcile with all the horrible things that happened on both sides.

Most of the stories as such are told in Vietnamese. Ex-soldiers tell their story. All of them is grateful for the sacrifice of the US soldiers to fight the communist invasions. Me too. Search for VUONG MONG LONG who was a Major in the RANGERS of the ARVN but only in Vietnamese..... Alot more from other ex-soldiers....
