If you want the straight up answer: Monique died because you missed 2 events which you saw last season where that yellow light drops things by your base, with the car drop being one you did see. The aliens destroy active kerfur omega units during these events. You'll only have to worry about this one more time.

Ok, I'm gonna have to call BS on the devs for making the Omega explode with those events. Straight up bad design idea that doesn't respect the player's time - not gonna rag on the cigarettes thing for this case here since Monique said Kerfur-Monique will be changed to drop cig packs in the next release, but having to hunt down all the parts of a Kerfur that exploded God knows where on the way to fetch hash reports is OBNOXIOUS.

Summoning Erie actually unlocks an item in the shop. Its an Erie themed TV! Certain achievements unlock stuff so you should check the shop once in a while, but as far as I know there are only 3 of those special achievements in the game. 1 is pretty rare, 2 is Erie and 3 is obscure.

For the log thing - You have the right idea, just the wrong location. Check around transformer 1, there's another log there. As for Monique breaking - Maybe *it* got a little jealous of her being around? KurfurO keeps breaking apart because you're being invaded by a new faction of aliens: The Grays. They are the only actively hostile alien faction in the game. The other two alien species are the Arirals and Rozitals. Gray technology is characterized by its gray coloration, worn and dirty industrial appearance, and orange-yellow lights. Also, that hexagonal panel that fell from the sky? Place it against a surface with the flat side towards you and press "use". It doesn't do anything bad, I promise.
