I love this. I've been trying to get away from building beat down decks, and this one seems interesting in that it's not just combat damage you're dealing. With the sac outlets and sac abilities, this could be really fun. Thank you, and keep up the good work

As a rampant Japanophile, I love the Kamigawa sets. Kind of wonky in places but still flavorful. Being a Kami, and a death aligned one, even the NAME is meaningful..."Shi" is death, and "Rei" means zero. Zero death. Boom. Also as a shinigami, or a Japanese take on a psychopomp or reaper of souls, it wears a white sheet, like a ghost, but white denotes death in Asia, and the thing slung over its back is a traditional wooden grave marker, and the cords are shrine binding ropes. Add in the downright Lovecraftian look of the eyes and hands (Call of Cthulhu is the most popular rpg in Japan btw), and you have something that is kind of nightmare fuel. It will not allow the peace of death. It will not let you rest. It bids you to walk the moonlit path back from the underworld to fight again.

You are right -- the inexpensive nature of this deck does make it look appealing. I'll have to see about making one myself later on.

Great card for the deck is thoughtpicker witch. Pay 1 colorless, sac a creature: look at the top 2 cards of an opponent's library and exile 1. It's a really cruel card tho once the Shirei engine gets going tho, so be warned your play group may really dislike it

Shirei is such a beast when it gets rolling, one friend in my playgroup pilots it for ages. I love playing with it at the table :) The three „scythes“ as well as Fallen Idol make for a good power spike there.

Biggest cons of Shirei I've had other than making you an obvious target is it's a 5 drop, and can be a pain to bring back if you don't have any recursion in hand and the whole deck revolves around Shirei. Also the deck is really mean, hence why I took it apart, very cruel to casuals, but tends to durdle if it doesn't get what it needs out on the field.

Fallen Ideal is no joke, sac 10 creatures raises Shirei to 22 or stick it on Plague Myr and sac 5 to make someone die to poison. One of these days Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Gray Merchant of Asphodel is gonna nuke somebody's life total.

I'm just going to say this if you want to lock ever opponent black cat . A 1/1 zombie cat when it dies oppent discards 1 card randomly. When ever you oppent draw a card sac the cat and they dicard the card untill they have no hand

Look into kamagawa block and use spirits there is a black spell where you sack spirits and deal dmg and you gain life

Can you sacrifice Hope of Ghirapur for nothing though. I thought the target was "player who was dealt combat damage by Hope of Ghirapur this turn", and you can't activate the ability without a legal target.
