ABOUT CHICAGO PD
From multiple Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf, "Chicago P.D." is a riveting police drama about the men and women of the Chicago Police Department's elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city's most heinous offenses - organized crime, drug trafficking, high-profile murders and beyond. Handpicked as the head of the unit, Det. Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) has assembled a team of diverse detectives who share his passion and commitment to keeping the city safe. They include Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Det. Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), the newest member of the team with killer instincts, humor and smarts. Desk Sgt. Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) runs a tight precinct with tough love, although she lets her softer side shine through from time to time.
Chicago PD is available now on Peacock, the new streaming service from NBCUniversal. Watch thousands of hours of hit movies and shows, plus daily news, sports, and pop culture updates. Stream now on Peacock.

The relationship between Voight and Halstead is beautiful! You see it from Season 3 onwards. It is such a shame that Halstead is leaving. After the death of Anna, Voight is reeling and needs his family more than ever! He has lost his wife, son and daughter by proxy (Lindsey) to lose Halstead as well is going to break him if those around him don't rally together and support him. He can be gruff and difficult to confront but he needs to be confronted and loved before he breaks x

As a father figure...yeah he has been working for him for Ten years. His actual Father didn't have the best of Relationships, but that was because he thought he was ashamed of him For working as a police officer. Only at the very end when his Dad died did he truly understand that his Father was never ashamed of him that he keep all of his Newspaper articles of Jay graduating from the police Academy....it was very sad i know then he wished he had more time and regret all the fights they had.

This is the strongest most powerful scene of the whole show. Let's remember one thing before we start judging. It was eternal affairs that got Voight out of prison and made him team leader and promoted him to the rank of sergeant. They could've made Alvin Olinsky or Antonio Dawson team leader so everyone even Voight would stay in line but they didn't. One of the reasons was because Voight , despite his ways , got results. Voight even gave his and his deceased wife's money to families and teenagers who were struggling and on the streets so they could have a better life. Have we even made attention to the whole show because not every bad thing that has happened was Voight's fault. Hailey was angry about what happened to her CI and got Darius Walker killed. The rest of the team had their share of mistakes and flaws. That was all their choices not Voight's. He even told Ruzek that he takes the heat he takes the bullets because he's team leader and so what if he is team leader. He's human and sometimes even the leader begins to collapses. That doesn't mean that he's a bad leader. Jay understands that and that's why he hasn't turned on Voight and doesn't see him as a threat to the whole team or to himself. In most of the episodes the team has followed his example or tried to encourage him to try a different strategy. The people who have tried to get his team to go against him just because they don't trust him have only failed because they either threaten the teams careers or have done acts against the law as well like North in season 9 has bribed multiple law enforcement officers so his brother could avoid charges in the past. Some of the others like Voight's old partner Denny Woods placed evidence at the scene of a case intelligence was working on to setup Voight. The team made their decisions that they could've changed but didn't. Voight didn't chase them or threaten them. Like with the Roy Walton case. Hailey clearly didn't want to go through with what happened and Voight told her that if she wanted to confess then she has got to tell him but instead she said no I don't want that. The team also worked separately instead of together to look for Burgess. Hailey also didn't follow through with telling Voight that she would call it in before the serge that he would take care of it and she had a clear view of what happened that caused her to shoot him which was in self defense. This show is based off of real life events, rewards and consequences and we humans have covered up all lot for lots of people. I've watched other police dramas like the NCIS , CSI and law and order series and one of the things they and others like them have in common with Chicago PD is that they have their own team leaders who soon step in the shadows to achieve justice and to protect their people and cities just like their own version of Voight with their team members reacting the same way and still remaining loyal because they know that they are still needed and good for their cities. That's what I think that Jay is trying to prove here. That despite Voight's actions and the way he does his job either with them or behind their backs he is one of those who would go the extra mile to keep millions safe. When we look at human behavior and how things are here in the real world we can see and show similar behavior and for the same reasons. We all have that opportunity to work as team , to prove ourselves as individuals and to turn our lives around for the greater good. There's good and bad inside all of us. The only difference is which will we choose to shape our lives and what choices will we make because of that way of life. That's what life is all about and like us into can change in a heartbeat, sometimes for the better or worse. Remember good won't always be good and bad won't always be bad, both can change as well as be used for miracles and disasters. As the good Lord once said on to us all "love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute for if you all love those who love you what reward is there in that". Clearly God and Jesus Christ want us to love all people and to forgive them as best we can and not to condemn them because of what they say or do or how they say or do it like Jesus once said on the cross to the people who didn't believe in him and crucified him, " forgive them father for they know not what they do". I am very proud of Jay Halstead.

here's the thing and its the one thing that i dont understand and its something i keep wrapping my head around Why didn't voight and hailey tell the truth, Roy Walton pulled for he voights gun, and fearing for voights life and even her own she shot and killed roy walton that part would get a respectable nod even a medal of valor, The only problem with that and its something i already know is Why didn't they call it in, that way, mark irwin wouldn't have died, HOWEVER this is the one thing i like about hank voight he's a slippery cockroach everyone who tried to take him down, failed, everyone who tried to use his team against him failed. Denny Woods, Edwin Stillwater, Erica Gradishar, Now its Special Agent Walker North, makes you wonder how will voight get out of this. everytime someone wants him taken down. like you said not eveything hank voight did was wrong he gave money to families and teenagers so they could have a better life, that's why i love voights character, its a complete 180 from his character in home alone 4 as peter mcallister.

They could not call it in because he had beaten up Roy and when Hailey showed up she never called it in! From the get go she knew exactly what she was walking into and Voight was the one pulling her in. If you watch closely you can see that Voight set up Upton to kill Roy! Voight has been on the job for a long time so there were no way he could’ve made a rookie mistake like that! Voight is like a father figure to his team but hmmmm a terrible father I must say! Just look at Ruzek 😅😅😅 that’s a Voight wannabe, he talks about loyalty and all but was the one who considered Denny woods offer to begin with! In my opinion Jay is the only one whose loyalty knows no bound! I just wish D.Wolf could just see that with no Jay the show isn’t gonna be the same! GREAT SCENE GREAT PERFORMANCES ❤❤❤❤

@@AlexisStreams yeah! Denny was right 20-30 yrs on the job he didn’t do it clean! When Jin sent Jay the thumb drive do you think Voight would’ve turn it over to the commander if Jin’s mother never showed up at the district? Is helping people out signs of him being good? Most of his rainy day cash came from bangers and his wife’s insurance money he said himself that it was used to hire a lawyer for Justin! He was not the reason of his son’s death but he was the reason of Alvin’s and Anna’s! He waits until the last minute to ask people to turn on him why doesn’t he have the courage just to do what need to be done like turn himself in ? Don’t get me wrong I love Voight very much but let’s be honest he is never gonna change, seeing Voight being close with Jay that would have been something! where we see Jay trying to keep Voight in line so he doesn’t go too far to jeopardize the lives of the Unit some more whilst trying not to lose himself without sacrificing his partnership/private life. The biggest shock of this episode was Halstead not giving up Voight. Given how much of a hypocrite Halstead can be about police work, Marcus West, Lonnie Rodiger, the abusive husband from season 7, and all the times he himself broke the precious protocols he sees as sacred not to mention all the drama he was rilled up about Roy Walton’s killing and Hailey’s involvement, and its not like Hailey is a saint either given what she did to Darius Walker all she had to do was walk away Roy shot Burgess like a dog with a smile on his face and Voight was not letting Roy leave that warehouse alive, and despite all that Halstead still refused to serve Voight up to the feds even when all his past history shows he would have ratted on Voight in a heartbeat. 9 seasons and this show still manages to surprise me.
@nin1379
@nin1379 2 жыл бұрын
I actually did not find it surprising, what he says here "I wouldn't be working for you for 10 years...", that was my reasoning as well befor the episode aired. Jay is not kind of person to work doing something he is so against and continue doing it, for what? He would just find other job (would't be difficult, considering his experience). It was pretty clear, that despite different view on policing, he always respected Voight and knew, that majority of time his actions were justified towards the well being of the city and victim/victim's family. Don't think Voight is always right, he could have avoided many bad decisions, Jay was right, they did find Kim without crossing any lines, there was no neccessity of making Hailey kill Roy, those bad decisions affect the whole unit. So, now I think, consulting with Jay and being more careful, they will avoid those problems. Oh, and about Hailey, my personal opinion is, that she saw Voight as a father figure she never had, she saw how much he cared about the city and put him on a pedestal, considered him a police officer she could learned from (remember first episode she appeared? She said "I don't know many, if any cop, who would do what you did for that kid", see the admiration there). With Darius, she really thought she was doing the right thing, considering how mich she admired Voight, but after coming back from FBI, it's clear her view on policing changed (that was the purpose of sending her in the first place). I believe she went there that night to avoid what happened, to help Voight see reason and not do the same stupid mistake (like Erin tried as well). Instead, Hank made her do what he was going to do himself, bad decisions all around. Even if Hailey left and Voight ended up being the one killing Roy, the problem would have been the same, there was no avoiding the investigation and FBI, same outcome.

Jay isnt all play by books as you all remember. In a past episode, he arrested an innocent civilian who was the son of a gang member. So this whole concept of him being clean goes up in flames. Bad character development.

I’m here now that upton may be leaving and I have to say… good riddance this video shows me that Jay was about it no matter what if he had to do some dirt he would because him and voight are like family his wife hailey made me mad on so many different occasions because anytime someone did anything remotely dirty she had to act like one of the higher ups then when she did her own dirty act alongside voight she couldn’t even handle it she’s too much of a goody two shoes she was not made for intelligence

No, it's a typical familial behaviour! I'm sure we've all shouted at our sister/brother/father/son etc one minute and been backing them up the next! Jay punched Hank in a moment of anger and shall we say weakness over a perfectly legitimate argument... when the FBI then started sniffing and trying to get Jay to turn against Voight, any argument they had went out the window!! Halstead knows that Chicago PD without Voight is not a good option!! He may not always agree with Voight but he does love him x
