I like to install a fpv camera + gopro and make It stream the content to my tv or monitor while the plane flys around in a pre programmed flight pattern around my property and perhaps have it autoland when the battery runs low. Would this be a hard project to do?
@ArxangelRC

Well... depends. How big is your property? Would you have direct line of sight to the plane from where you will be at all points during the flight?

@@ArxangelRC most likely if it is big enough. Looked into the Volantex Ranger and the Phoenix 2400. Its roughly 7 acres of fairly flat fields. I want to play spy and have it "spy over my roads and such. So for this to be configured I will need a autopilot module, obviously a fpv cam then map out where the plane should go with software? am I missing something. I appreciate all the advice I get, thanks.
@ArxangelRC
@ArxangelRC Жыл бұрын
@@ceaseanddesist8036 Hey, sorry for the delay! Well yes, you would need an autopilot, a radio control system (controller and receiver), GPS unit, FPV camera, video transmitter, battery, on the ground you would need a monitor, video receiver, perhaps also an antenna tracker, directional antenna, etc., and only then will you get to the software, but first you would need to fly the plane and configure it, tune it a bit, so it can fly reliably.

Did you toss with elevator at zero setting? Or do you recommend approx 2 mm reflex on elevator.. thanks

Well since this has the motor in the nose, I don't recall having to use elevator reflex on launch, but then I also had an autopilot in it. Try 2mm up, won't hurt, you can always remove it, if its too much.

awesome review! What motor you'd recommend? Also, how do you like the stock motor?
@ArxangelRC
@ArxangelRC 6 жыл бұрын
The stock motor is OK, though it does get just a tad bit warmer than what I am used to on my larger FPV planes, but the limited cooling is probably a factor in this situation! Ideally I would recommend a motor of around 700-800Kv on 4S, and a larger prop than this one, to get some good efficiency, if you are after that sort of thing! Volantex do have an 850Kv version of this motor, and I will try to get a hold of one of those, so I can test it as well, and have made a recommendation to them to include it in the PNP sets... or perhaps as an option, for people wanting to go 4S, since the 1050Kv this comes with now, is officially rated for 3S.

Well... depends on what the goal is! I like how the Phoenix handles and flies a bit better, and that view from the tail is absolutely stunning... but if you need an unobstructed video from the plane, then the Ranger is the one to go for... plus it is a bit more convenient for FPV, because the motor is at the back, out of the way of the nose and any cameras you might want to mount there.

@@ArxangelRC ~ I went to school for Computer Science so I've done my share of programming & all I'm trying to find out is what "Language" is used? Basic, Fortran Cobol, ect...... or is it something else? But whatever it is they have some name for that discipline of writing. I've got the money to buy most anything & I'll buy at least a 6 channel Transmitter & plan to use for 5 yrs. Yeah, I don't want one that I have to change sticks or a cheap one but I do need to know what they call their "Language" that's used to program.... Is there an industry standard or does each Transmitter Company have it's own unique scripts you must learn? I'm trying to get a feel for what I may be getting into, is all? @@ArxangelRC ~ thanks for the reply, few have even tried because they do not know the answer. DSMX / DSM2 may be the protocol along w/ their own "block language"? I'm not as concerned over the language as I am in not wasting monies..... lol, these Transmitters are fully capable for the average flyer but I get stumped on the Receivers & electronics in some of the components that all have overlapping control over the flight. But they don't use the same terminologies. It leaves one to just jump in blind and work like hell to makes the components work together. I'm trying to buy smart(5 yr Transmitter) & put my money into planes/quads. I thank you for giving the answer your best shot..... I expect the Industry to bring a better/easier option for the new flyers? We shall see & ty for the video.

@diggydice9041 5 жыл бұрын
@@ArxangelRC ~ ty for the answer....lol, what I've learned in my time looking into this is that you basically pick a Transmitter you can afford & you pick it to last like 5 yrs or so. But it is a blind purchase because you really don't know what works w/ what & how much work it'll be to fly and even after that you'll always be trying to fix this or that? I'm pretty close to knowing what I want .... a DX6 or DX9. I haven't got into the receivers yet because their are other components that I may want as well & I'll try to get one that incorporates more functions to my liking... ohh, & ones that work w/ the DX Transmitters. thank you again & I'm sure I'll be watching as you use the parts I end up buying for my plane? peace

2 things, just like the asw28 from same manufacturer, you have to set the escape brake or you cannot glide correctly because of the propeller continuing to rotate and braking the plane. Second point is the GC balance where you almost have to remove the wheel and it's foam so you can put the battery further in rear. That will spares you to add weight at the far rear.
@SebastienChedalBornu
@SebastienChedalBornu 6 жыл бұрын
So it weighs like my asw28. What is the wing area? To check if it gots lower wingload than the asw28 or not, and so if I change my glider or not.
@ArxangelRC
@ArxangelRC 6 жыл бұрын
I have gotten the programming instructions for the ESC from Volantex, so will enable the break on their ESC, but I will be replacing it at some point, as I don't really trust it. As for the CG, I do like the wheel and the cover for it, so will not be removing them, but rather than just adding dead weight at the back, I do have some other plans for this plane which should make it a bit more interesting and still solve that CG issue! :) Not sure about the wing area, will have to ask!
