I heard James Hettfield say, that he was impressed by Michael Poulsens voice, front man in Volbeat.. and yes he can rock that Elvis metal.. proberly why hes nickname is Metal Elvis.. and a song dedicated for one of the guys who inspired Volbeat, being mr Johnny Cash..

What I love about Volbeat is how they integrate metal and punk with country, rockabilly, folk, and blues. You really want to get your mind all twisted up? Check out Michael Poulson's (vocalist) pre-Volbeat death metal band called Dominus. He was also the vocalist.

Alright, I got 3 : 41 for the review. 😄 I was honestly a little apprehensive, for weeks, based on the thumbnail (if I remember right they're just random). I thought, "That expression could mean different things." I wondered if the feel of the song was actually too similar to The Devil Rages On. All the overthinking. 🙂 This was a really fun reaction, and I'm glad the song fit the mood. I thought the score may have been a bit higher, but no issue. An 8 would've been a pleasant surprise, and I knew a 9 wasn't even on the table. Speaking of which, I love that raided-the-kitchen metaphor.

Catching this tune live is fantastic, I’ve seen them 8 or 9 times Poulsen grabs an acoustic and starts playing Johnny cash’s ring of fire and segues in to this tune, always a crowd pleaser

When they opened for Metallica, they didn’t hide this song’s source: they showed the iconic picture of Johnny Cash flipping off the camera. It definitely has a “Folsom Prison” vibe to it.
