Still one of the most extreme launch coasters I’ve ridden. That first launch is both intense to experience and the sound it made caused goosebumps to form when I first heard it. A true marvel that Intamin squeezed a major thrill ride into the existing mountain. Sad that she had to be a prototype tho. Rest In Peace, Volcano 🌋💥🎢

@@salieallana yes. They unfortunately had to remove it. If you go to KD now, that whole area is closed. Crypt is gone, Volcano is torn down and gone, and Avalanche is closed for the 2021 season until further notice.

Volcano was my very first coaster back in '99. Nothing like busting your fear of coasters on the baddest ride in the park. My pal had just had an appendectomy like 2 days before and wasn't supposed to do any physical activity, but nothing was going to stop him. We rode it 3 times, the last 2X times in the rain, which stung like a mother. Great memory!

@@EthanGrey08 They definitely sound like they have a bit more power behind them though most of the time LSMs allow for an overall higher acceleration and they're quieter. I do love the sound of both though and they're both very fun launches, the closest thing we have to an intamin invert here is the impulse coaster V2: vertical velocity at Discovery Kingdom soon to be rethemed to the flash.

Had the pleasure of riding it 2013 during a school trip. It was one of the best coasters I’ve ever been on. If only there were more rides like this at the cedar parks that take advantage of the structure to make it stand out.

Many years ago one of my favorite bands (Skillet) was about to play at the amphitheater, and I got in line for the Volcano before they went on. We could hear them playing in the distance, and they finished their whole concert by the time we got on. Was over 2 hours.

I am so sad it is closing! I loved that ride. It was my favorite for sure. I looked forward to riding it again one day. I rode it many, many times especially once it was getting close to closing time and there were no lines. My family and I vacationed in the area from Alaska where we have no amusement parks, bummer!

As for the Volcan you dont want the track going through the bottom of it cause it wont make a opening so raise the land enough to have the track go through the ground & try to blend the ground by coloring it & slant the ground to match the base of the volcano as best as you can. You also dont need to raise the ground in the center of the volcano cause you dont want issues trying to bring the track out of the ground so maybe raise the ground to fit around the edge if the old and and that's it.

A shame that problems plagued this coaster from the get-go, you had like a 50/50 chance this ride would be closed when going to Kings Dominion some summers. But it really was a fun and exceptionally smooth ride. I think this ride was also famous for the horrendously long lines. I do miss it tho. That initial blast off with that long turn into the volcano was a lot of fun.

I always thought Volcano could have had sooooo much more potential!! The take off is great! Coming out of the Volcano is great! But after that, it’s relatively tame. The 3 loops are pretty slow. Even the final drop isn’t anything exhilarating. Too bad it’s gone. Maybe not be anything ridiculously thrilling, but it’s still was pretty entertaining!

I don't think that also have verbal track for any inverted so you might have to just don't a slopped hill a few times and then do a large half loop cause if you just go straight to large half loop that is not nearly high enough in height. Then from the half loop do corkscrew. I don't know if the large or small would work better but if you have custom scenery it won't matter cause track can go through the scenery but if possible you don't want that cause it would make it look bad when riding.

I think he's talking about this summer when the ride was closed for a month and a half or so for repairs. The gearbox for the cable lift was damaged from long-term wear and the train was stranded near the top of the lift on an e-stop, so there was this whole operation trying to get the train down. Intamin had to make a new gearbox and replace it, and it was just a mess. So it was closed from the end of July to the middle of september, I think. I heard about it on Screamscape, so check there

Oh your talking about that you can't use that you have to use the cheat that hives you unlimited launch and chain lift speeds and choose another inverted coaster and then for the launch parts you just use the chain lift hill but flat like how the ride is and turn up the chain lift to 70. I would probably put a chain every other piece of track just so it doesn't launch and get to the speed so quickly maybe less cause you can't set individual speeds for each chain lift.

No they are Not Maverick Bars it'saactually pretty comfortable. It's padded restraintsthink of putting on a life vest iit's like that and it snaps together. Much better then maverick.

My though for Volcano: Completely breathtaking overall! If I was on Volcano, then I would imagine feeling the mad rush on Volcano! So this means, I am giving Volcano a definite go which means I would definitely like to go on it one day in the future, regardless! :-)

Strong winds may slow the train down, or the track/train may not be warmed up enough causing extra friction. That's why Volcano has that long curve after the first launch - if the train doesn't make it out the top, there's plenty of room for it to roll backwards and slow down.

OH i went on that ride! it was really fun, i loved the cork screws! SADLY when we went there the intimidator 305 was closed. i think they were repairing it. also i didn't get to go on the dominator because we ran out of time DX i missed the two best rides there. i hope i can go on it if i go back though. OH and im not sure if you were at the same kings dominion or if it had the same ride but did you go on the flight of fear?!? :D
