VOLCANOES & WAVES | Minute Diary 06

Hawaii.....never thought I would ever visit these islands but so pumped I was able to. We were on the Island of Kona to film at the Ironman World Championships so here are a few bits and pieces from the experience on the island. We hiked around the volcano and down to where the lava was flowing into the sea, it was mind blowing and highly reccomend it.

This was all filmed with a Lumix Gh4 (Metabones speedbooster, 70-200mm f4 IS, 35mm f2 IS, Sigma 10-20mm)and the aerials were from a DJI Phantom 4 (Etienne van Rensburg the Pilot). Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

HUGE FAN OF YOUR WORK. This was awesome! I have a question though, when you film these videos do you have a story board in mind or an idea? Your video's are always so fluid and the transitions from you hand on the tree, to you to the beach - its really well thought out and almost like a narrative

Hey thanks so much and I'm glad you appreciate the flow. To be honest I have no idea at all when I start out, i'm just capturing odd bit's of footage here and there when I have some free time and then I do my best to give it a direction somewhat when editing :)

what an amazing scenery! Are you happy with the GH4? Some people say the sensor is crap because it's so small and you get grain already at iso 1600 ..but I think when not shooting much lowlight it's great..think I will stick with the GH5 next year..

Yeah the Gh4 beats anything in that price range. I really dig how robust it is for it's size and battery life lasts forever. I use a speedbooster which gives me an extra stop of light and hardly ever shoot over 800 ISO. I'm definitely getting the Gh5 unless Sony has something hidden up their sleeve for early next year haha.

Yeah..and also the in body stabilization of the GH5 is insane..I saw it on photokina this year! I don't think that Sony will announce an A7SIII in the next 3 month with 4K 60fps and 4:2:2..but if so it will cost 4000$..

Yeah you right, it'll cost double the price of the Gh5. Looking forward to getting my hands on one and that sensor stabilisation is a winner for sure!
