For the rest of his life the guy at 2:45 can say he escaped a Rickson armbar. ;)

Nice straight arm bar when the guy had his back.

You can see that he try to flip him over at the last minute but Rickson got his leg around him quick and that was all she wrote.

If I had to guess, When he gets mounted, he baits people into thinking he doesn't know they will try arm-bar him. He was ready to defend and roll Rickson over as soon as he went for it. I don't the guy has ever roll with someone like Rickson, (who's grappled for all his life) who counters him pretty quickly. Once he gets back on him (use to do this a lot) he grabs his collar (sweat shirt) and acts like hes going to try a choke. Distracts them, and instead go for the arm lock.

@unclegarrad I don't believe going for takedowns is that dangerous but I do believe it is an important part of training, especially for mma or street fighting. Most bjj guys, even a lot of high level ones, suck on their feet. You see them struggling often in mma to get it to the ground, then they do desperation stuff like pull guard. Btw, I am a bjj practiioner, I just think starting on the knees is silly. No disrespect to Rickson.

@unclegarrad nowadays its 99% groundwork but wasnt supposed to be that way,go to gracie miami or torrance academies and youll spar standing up with strikes included and continue on the ground,thats gjj,not sport grappling from the knees that gets you killed on the street.
@ex0ja12 жыл бұрын
@poolboyinla the aim is to focus on ground fighting technique, if they start on the feet then that is less time practicing ground fighting. If takedowns need practice better to do some Judo or (maybe wrestling for no-gi).

@unclegarrad, The problem with sports jiujitsu is in the concept: Sports. @at the Gracie miami, Master Pedro showed us many times the differences, and how can you can really be beat up in a real fight with some of the sports techniques!
