He sees that they stopped "praying" to him and his kind of the Old Gods from Freljord. And he thinks that Ornn is the reason why. Volibear is the God of Thunder but also a God of War, and you see/hear that he likes Tryndamere, his line sounds more like "Oh, you think are savage, proof it !" That is what is fuel to him that is what his worshippers did. Also when he destroys a tower the says stuff like "i unmake your shrines" or "down with false idols" he is fighting to stay alive, and if someday there will be peace in freljord he could propably die. that is his drive.

But she came into existence on the wishes and prayers of people who sailed to help guide them. But people slowly stopped praying to her and she started to lose her power. Weak hosts, forms they’ve burned out or such mean they can have a strong high in the midst of battle where there’s a lot of strong flesh to use but extended periods of time will see them wear out their more fragile physical bodies until someone strong enough can overcome it. They have the potential to be more powerful than their Ascended kin but are forced to build themselves up to it every time, and time will see them reduced. That said it’s never been clear where the demigods of the Freljord stand against the Ascended of Shurima or the Aspects of Targon on a power scale.

I think it’s representative of his personal fears of ‘dying’. In his case fading away and being left behind by the Freljord. Unlike Anivia and Ornn, Volibear doesn’t represent a necessity or fact of life in the Freljord. He’s the one who is concerned about his mortality because as he is forgotten, as the Freljord becomes civilised he will cease to be.

So like, the joke/secret canon is that Urf is actually the god of salt/the sea for the Freljord, but is long since dead for the same reason that Voli worries about being forgotten. the old Ohmwrecker got removed 'cause it was useless, so I honestly don't think a 2 secs disable on towers will be a problem. In 2 seconds a tower fires up to 3 shots, something that a juggernaut can tank in every phase of the game

I think the main reason why it was useless was because it was only really good for the early game phase, since later on everyone could tank the towershots with ease...but nobody wanted to buy it early on, as the champions it was designed for, (tanky junglers and supports) needed to rush other items first and by the time they had these items, towerdiving wasn't a big deal anymore

@@marcomigliorucci343 Ohmwrecker was an expensive ITEM, whereas voli has it in his kit. However the important aspect behind it is that turrets rack up damage REALLY quickly. Voli with his ult at level 6 will stop 3 turret shots and secure a tower dive kill, only to later take 2 shots on his way back to safety. Any other champion would not be able to block those 3 initial shots and would take in total of 5-ish, which, at level 6 is 65%+ health. In conclusion, that ult will be problematic and many people will complain. I don't have any feelings on what they should do with him, but it seems like a part of his identity, especially considering with how many lines they reserve for that aspect of the champ. Then again.. *cough cough* aatrox *cough*

I think that thematically the Freljord needs someone like him to embody the struggle of the old against the new. Something, primal, feral even cruel to remind the Freljord of their roots. And ultimately it’s clear he’s insecure since unlike Ornn and Anivia, he’s the one most likely to be forgotten and left behind with the new cultures taking hold. Craftsmanship, fire and forge will always have a place where there are people. Wind, cold and blizzards will always remain in the Freljord unless something drastic changes the geography. But in comparison to Volibear? Storms pass within days, violence and survival is being phased out for community. Unlike his siblings Volibear is neither a necessity or a certainty. So it stands to reason that he is afraid for his existence, that is why he is so dead set on waging wars and reminding all that live in the frozen northlands that he exists. He’s the cruel brutality of conflict and necessity of warriors being faced with irrelevance, essentially death.
