On early mk5 Jettas and rabbits, you can’t really route the boost tube anywhere but around everything due to the different design of the timing sensor.

There seemed to be a little gap between the block and the plate after I installed it.. wasn’t sure if that was the rubber gasket or not. Hopefully it stops the oil leak

Question: I replaced the gasket on the vacuum pump yet I still have a leak but it seems that is coming from hose that goes to the breather valve, can that be replaced by itself?

The hose could be replaced but it’s likely you will need to replace your vacuum pump assembly

What kind of tool did you use to unscrew those nuts on the pump in that tight space? Most video I found, they need to remove the battery and tray to have more opening.

I believe I just used a 3in 1/4in extension with a socket, sometimes removing battery tray helps

i did mine w out taking the battery tray out just the battery and just used a socket with an extension

hey, i know im a year late to this video but did you have any issue with your EPC system after installing this? I recently did this to my mk5 jetta and now my EPC light is on and I can tell something is not correct.

Why did you not remove the battery and tray? It makes access to the shift cable and pump so much easier.

I seen another guys video were he shows you how to pull the pump but, then he tells you to use a bunch of rtv gasket maker on it On the front in the groove of the gasket and on the cover plate. He also says to use a bead on the back were it mates to the block to use some on the metal gasket on the rear. He says this is a "leak proof" solution, what do you think about this?

That’s a bad idea, many times the reason they leak is wear at the bushing to the point that the oil becomes excessive in the pump housing, I’ve seen them get so full of oil that the physically locked up and sheared the camshaft right off, applying rtv is almost never a good idea on a oring in a grove type of seal, the only exception I make is if the mating surface is pitted from corrosion

Yeah you could do that, you wouldn’t need that tee on the booster to intake hose

You don’t have to if it’s not damaged, they are pretty commonly broken though so replacing it isn’t a bad idea

what kit did you get. my car started leaking oil into the engine. im pretty sure its the vacuum pump seal but im no mechanic but i will prob do this in the future. if this problem persists

spulen is the only company i've seen that actually makes a kit that lets you still have power brakes

I heard this delete can cause a "oil pressure low" alarm. Have u experienced anything like that or a difference in braking

I drove my personal vehicle for about 60k miles with this delete installed and have put in on several other cars over the years without issue, brake feel in my opinion is unchanged
