Not only late, but also wrong. The JV will NOT address autonomous driving features or ADAS, but purely focus on E/E architecture as well as the software stack meaning the car's operating system.

VW gets Rivian's tech. . . which is good for VW. What does Rivian get? More debt. Per the press release, "Initially VW will invest $1 billion in Rivian through an unsecured convertible note that will convert into Rivian’s common stock subject to certain conditions upon the later of receipt of regulatory approvals and December 1, 2024. VW is expected to invest a further $4B as part of the transaction" With Rivian losing almost $2 bill/qtr, I don't see how this deal even slows down Rivian's certain path to bankruptcy

You should double check how much Rivian is losing per quarter. Your number is off. You should also understand it costs lots of money to install level 3 chargers and open service centers. Rivian has the best chances of succeeding out of the recent EV IPOs. Search Bezos interview with Jay Leno. It’ll help you understand something else

Listen, at Rivian, we build our cars to compete against I.C.E cars. Not Tesla. We are competing with the 80-90% of the market that HASN’T gone EV yet. Lots of legacy automakers are failing to deliver EV’s to the market because they are kind of making them for the wrong reasons. Everything mirrors/mimics Tesla or what is already on the market. At Rivian the goal is to get people excited about EV’s and create something that makes you switch from gas to electric. To make something fundamentally better for the consumer, which inevitably/in turn is better for the planet. This approach is why Rivian can make it. “Tesla learned to walk so we could run” is a phrase we use a lot when explaining our relationship with Tesla to customers. We have partnered WITH them. Like a lot for other OEM’s. What Tesla has done is amazing and it got the market/the world ready for what is to come: Less reliance on fossil fuels and reducing carbon footprints

LOL at no one wants an electric car yet the Model Y is the best selling car in the world, the Chinese EV makers are taking over Europe and Biden is raising tarriffs on the Chinese EV makes by a 100 percent because Ford, GM, and Stellantis can't make a compelling EV that anyone wants. It's only a matter of time before the Chinese work their way in to the U.S. and the big three U.S. company go bankrupt.
