Actually boot capacity is way down in the hybrid - over 400 litres vs near 600 for all other models

I agree with you on this review Nobby....but bulb front indicators on a very exspensive classy looking car and yet the first Arteon had class looking front led indicators. More money for car but going backwards on lighting.

Yeah it’s only a little niggle and if you own it, you’ll rarely see them I guess but with such gorgeous lights it’s just a bit of a head scratch.

All the old R line models came with matrix led headlights hence why they had led indicators they were standard now it’s a extra and €1300 I didn’t want to spend went wit a pan roof lapez blue instead 😀

@@paulmullen24 That is a good choice. Matrix headlights.. are they that good....I have been driving 40 years. Never had a problem with headlights.

Great review. I'm looking at one of these view the company car option, as for a hybrid it looks like it still has the boot space for a family car. However, as a current diesel owner one of my concerns is real world mpg. What would you say is real world, specially on more motorway commutes. I average about 1800 per month, with the majority being motorway... Ideally a diesel would be the one, but with BIK going up and companies trying to ruduce their carbon footprint, we're being pushed more into this sector. As a 20% tax brand, a hybrid is about 50% cheaper. Will this just relate to the price to get the same mileage? Look forward to your response.

But Toyota has been doing hybrid where the engine charging was the thing. I don't understand why vw's would be "defeating the whole purpose". The only thing that I think it's a negative about this hybrid is the lack of DC charge. It would help having to quickly plug it in whether you can on a long distance trip and charge it for a good 15-20 minutes to full

That's a totally different type of hybrid system. It uses to petrol to charge the car.

Sigh... A classic hybrid does not use petrol to charge. There are different drive modes, the system selects which combination of electric motor and ICE will be used. There is a tiny batterypack that feeds the electric motor. The ICE is kept near its optimal revs at all times, excess power gets convertet to charge the battery. Depending on the system braking can be regenerative. Plug in hybrids trade the tiny battery for a large one. Some allow you to run your ICE in extra to charge the battery while driving. Say you are nearing home and want todo the drive through the neighborhood on E Drive.

That's odd Mark, my R-Line Arteon uses the small inner LED strip light to indicate? The boot opens with holding button 2 of the key fob or by pushing the VW badge at 12 O'Clock position. I'd spec DCC (Adaptive Chassis Control) with upgraded suspension for a better ride in comfort and sport mode. It also then allows the 20" Rosario wheels (black turbines) which look far nicer than the 19" Montevideo rims. Great review as always but I have to say the car is best in Lapiz Blue but sure I'm biased ;-)

They must have built you a special one. Was the same on the shooting brake. Unless production cycle changed since these were made and yours is a newer build!

@@NobbyOnCars So as per my whatsapp message I am devastated to confirm that yes indeed my facelifted 212 doesn’t have the LED strip light indicators (unlike my last 2 Arteon R-Lines) Won’t be making assumptions on specifications being continued on newer models ever again 🤦🏻‍♂️

At €2.20 a litre versus €0.20 for a kWh, you make zero sense.

This is not true, all conversions of energy are never 100% efficient. So you lose range if you do this.

Im driving a skoda octavia vrs iv just now and if you can get more than 25 miles of ev only I'll be well impressed. Otherwise this is such a lazy effort from VW imo for the money. Same 1.4tsi engine as cars much less and that pop up head up display is naff as.
