We did this on my mk6 1.4 TSI Other than resetting the clock, doing the steering wheel and following his verbal advice at the end regarding the windows it went fine!

Not many people talk about resetting the windows. Thanks for that! Worked great, had to hold for closer to 5 seconds on both up and down but they're good again. Have to do it for each window though, but can all be done from the drivers controls.

Thanks for the video. Called my vw dealer and of course they wanted $300 to replace the battery, saying the system needed to be reset and blah blah bullshit. This saved me $150 confirming how easy it is to diy.

@@mali6533 for the steering I just turned the wheel all the way left and right until the light went off. Tire pressure sensor required driving around for ten minutes. Auto windows, hold in up position for a few seconds to reset. Hope that helps

@@mali6533 VCDS allows you to reset the battery to the car, there is information on the battery that you should get from the dealer to get the best battery life out of the battery VW uses a battery management system that turns things off that are on in the background when the car is not running as the battery ages there is less available amps and the management system prolongs the life of your battery

I have the 2017 VW Jetta. The last two battery replacements by AAA caused the airbag light to come on indicating the driverside airbag was disabled. The first time my VW dealership charged me $100 to clear the light and reactivate my airbags. For my most recent replacement I purchased my own OBII scanner and cleared the error myself. If you leave your Windows up during battery replacement you can avoid having to reset the pinch function. I haven't had any other issues, but find it odd that battery replacement which is a routine service should result in a critical safety issue with disabled airbags. At least that is what the scan tool said in RED, " driverside airbag disabled" until I cleared the code. My battery replacements do not need reprogramming, newer VWs may require it. Tap cables together off the battery and reconnect in 15 minutes. It's on the vw website it's a hard reset.

Replaced the battery on my 2015 Leon. Did all with steering weel and everything is ok, it doesn’t show any errors. Shop where I bought battery told me that I’ll have to go to service center where they have to connect car to computer to note it that it has a new battery. Any toughts about that? Thanks!

went to Firestone after my battery died on my 2019 S Jetta (33000 miles). only charged me $30 for labor and the battery NO PROGRAMMING. someone needs to explain WHY some of us are being told it has to when it isn’t necessary. Volkswagen wanted to charge me $200 just to program my new battery 😅 Edit: Battery brand is called “Die Hard” i believe, it’s very well known to last ($200)

I was going to buy a battery a couple of days ago in auto zone for 200. But the register said that the car will need to go to the dealership or beware of the code reset. Dealership was charging 300+ for new battery and installation and code reset. Is the window and steering at the end of the video what they mean by code reset? I replaced my battery VW Tiguan 2010 and got the Christmas light display and nothing worked. This freaked me out. Engine would not even start etc. The computer did reset after a while. Does the car memory device work for VW?

Yes that’s what we used to do. It keeps the system alive whilst you swap over batteries. A couple of cheap jumper leads connected to the terminals of new battery and battery leads before removing leads from flat battery.

every time i disconnect the battery on my vw and then put it back the window buttons go crazy... the full press to a window button in my vw means full auto roll down/up BUT for some reason that function doesnt work for a few days and then comes back to function randomly each window separately.. weird!
