Thanks Gary, you took me to a childhood flashback when my dad used to take me with him on drives in the mountains in his Baja. I love that sound it literally sent chills right up my spine. I wish Mello Yello sounded that well. Jawbreaker has a super sweet tight rap to her, I'll never be able to get enough of it.

Man this little car makes me smile, and I'm not even the one getting to drive it. That 2054 really looks like it pulls, maybe I need to save up the extra money to go for a stroker crank instead of going 1915.

It’s not one thing over the other that makes the difference, it’s the total package, the combination that makes it all come together and work on harmony. It’s a fun engine though, I’ll say that much.

Your motor sounds great and pulls hard, but what is really surprising is how well it behaves when putting around town at low speed and RPMs. With a big cam, large valves and ports, and its higher static compression, I am impressed. Great vid man.

Honestly I was shocked as well on the low end performance. Engine wasn’t fully warmed up and I made that right turn in second gear barley rolling. Thank you for spelling out your thoughts here, this combo still amazes me to this day and it’s nice to see people appreciate what goes into the build.

I went on a longer cruise a day or so after and the temps were between 200-210, those are good temps. As for general oil temps, Around 230-235 it’s time to grab a gear and slow down, let the engine start to cool. 240 and above is not good. Thought you’d like this video since you’ve been asking for a good ride along video 😁

VWJAWBREAKER Yeah, I was kind of bugging you about that. LOL I am so glad you did that and I truly appreciate it. I was asking because I never ran in oil temperature gauge before and I planned on it this time around. Especially when I build an engine over the winter. It will be a larger displacement. Somebody I knew had their temp running at 220, and he literally pulled the engine out of his car and put his old motor back in. I didn’t think 220 was that scary. But then again he wasn’t sure either

Couple things. First thanks for the ride along it gives one a good perspective how it performs. No Heartbreak Hill in Florida?? 🤪 From my vantage point I think my 1641 with my Modified by me 34pict3 and 009 with points would probably hang right with ya. “Sarcasm” more like Behind Fading Fast Ha Ha. Although I did get pulled over for going 101 in a 55. Got out of the ticket because the cop used to own a Bug and Knew they won’t go that fast 😬. Anyway I have two very Important questions One. What kind of seats do you have in Jawbreaker. Two what Rpm were you shifting at under hard acceleration. Last engine I heard on the Dyno was an RY45 Ford NASCAR based engine for a Outlaw Late-model turned that 9800. I don’t think you were quite there 😜
@VWJawbreaker
@VWJawbreaker 4 жыл бұрын
It’s Florida so no heart break hills here lol 101, your ballsy man! I think the fastest I’ve pushed her was in the low 90’s in 4th gear. These are seats out of a Mini Cooper. They are super comfy and only requires minor customization to make them fit. Found a wrecked one and got the pair for $120. I was shifting right around 6200-6500rpm on that trip. I usually drive her normal and rarely get on her like that. It’s fun don’t get me wrong but I want her to last. Thanks for being here 👍
@sheldonjr7hp
@sheldonjr7hp 4 жыл бұрын
VWJAWBREAKER Been looking for some different seats. Speedo didn’t work when I got pulled over in my younger and dumber days. Stock height suspension starts making some lift at that speed. Not a real good feeling. What ever I do build in the future I’ll be sticking to 5,000 rpm probably. Plan to build it to last a good long time. I live in the Eastern Part of South Dakota not much for long hills in the Great Plains. Just good stretches to get er wound up ha ha. But I’m kinda past that need for speed. Just want that stop light to stop light acceleration. Which my wife told me. But we don’t have any stop lights in the entire county we live in lol. Got me there guess I live in a bit of a bubble.
@VWJawbreaker
@VWJawbreaker 4 жыл бұрын
Man, there’s nothing wrong with the area you’re in, I’m jealous! I mostly shift this engine between 3500 -4000 at the most, there’s no real need to wind this out as much as I did on the video. Shift points there were at red line but why push the engine that hard all of the time? It’s really not needed. It is fun once in a while but for the most part I drive her like I would a 1600..... just take it easy and enjoy the ride.

Hi buddy I agree with you your bug is cool, I think 2 litre is a good size and we’ll I think I would like to make the same motor you have, if you can assist me on your components used ,carbs, Distrubitor . What is a good compression ratio and why cam size , fk8 is that similar to Engle 110 and was told exceeding more than half inch lift reduces life also have you had any experience with the total seal rings also called no gap , or what video’s address my questions thanks Harry
@VWJawbreaker
@VWJawbreaker 2 жыл бұрын
There’s a lot that goes into a engine combination and setup… Heads need to match the cam, cam determines the compression ratio, all of that will depend on what carbs you use. Best thing to do is look at the combo kits from cb performance and go from there. FK8 is no close to a 110 cam. Best to do more research and figure out what type of engine you need and for your driving style.

Busses are different to a degree..... upgraded cam like a c25 or c35 if you want to run dual carbs, compression around 7.5:1, good flowing heads. With that any stroker size will get you more power.

@@VWJawbreaker is a stroker engine making your displacement using bigger crank rather BnP? what’s advantages of a stroker? Is it more power/torque?
@VWJawbreaker
@VWJawbreaker 3 жыл бұрын
@@tospicy4ya larger crank makes it a stroker. I’d also go for larger pistons as well since there isn’t any replacement for displacement. More displacement, correctly put together will always make more power. In your case you want more of the torque not just hp.

@VWJawbreaker

@@tospicy4ya 90.5 cylinders are thicker than 92’s. 94’s are also thick like the 90.5’s. I wouldn’t use 92’s for a bus.

Not to be nosey but what did the engine build cost.
@VWJawbreaker
@VWJawbreaker 3 жыл бұрын
I never totaled it up honestly. The $1400 heads I got cheap from a friend along with the HD aluminum push rods, 1.4:1 rockers, some stuff I already had. So it was much less than buying every single part for the build.

@@Ty_RS3 you could build it any size you want, just build it for how you’re going to use it. Daily driver, less compression and not a race engine. I built the 2054 in the video, already have 2500 miles on it without issues.
