less then 120BHP models of the Golf have torsion beams as rear suspension. That impacts the handling. Look for more powerful versions for all wheel independent suspension setup.

+Ozgun Canbazoglu Thanks. Now I know why the Golfs I have access to in Zipcar are so crap compared to the cheaper Fiestas, and even Corsas for goodness's sake!
@MaximilianvonPinneberg8 жыл бұрын
+Ozgun Canbazoglu I know, from first hand the suspension on lower powered models really affects the ride and handling. No-one believes me but they have only driven ones with the more complex fully independent rear suspension.

My experience with a tsi engine so far: After 5000km this engine- when running iddle -started shaking. Engine misfires - according to VAG that is a normal behaviour for the TSI engines. ( Why the engine didn't have that problem the first 5000 km, remains a mystery). So expect this to happen at any time. My collegues car ( french make, also direct-injection petrol engine) which cost half the price, runs smoother. She makes fun of me, but in Germany they call this "Vorsprung durch Technik".

So, this is a £22,000 Golf 1.0 petrol (The non DSG 3 door is £19,700). That paint in base red - option. Rear spoiler - option. Many of the electric gizmos in the interior - options. Add in it doesn't have independent rear suspension on a real world configuration of around £24,000+ before any discount. That is a lot of money for something that is a Skoda underneath.

There is a reason the gearbox sticks with the 2nd gear, the engine is not torqy enough.
@crunchygiblets8 жыл бұрын
+Mo B It would need more torque to pull away in 2nd
@AnotherYoutuber4608 жыл бұрын
Starts on 2nd gear at times because 1st and reverse are on the same shaft. So when your in P the car doesn't know if you going to go forward or into reverse so if you pull away in D it selects 2nd gear if you wait slightly it then drops down from 2nd into 1st. Usual issue with the 7speed DSGs as far as I know. Not really an issue its just the way it was designed.

+leiya107 try in a congestion city like Melbourne and all ways on the road for 5 hours. There's a reason we drive auto not just lazy and manual just for fun. And auto today save more fuel. and my point being this golf is a city orientated design.
@leiya1078 жыл бұрын
+MARKINAU8 I drive in London (the outer boroughs mostly, it has to be said) and surprise surprise, I enjoy all the 1st, 2nd, neutral, 1st, 2nd, neutral; sometimes a "risky" third, the occasional handbrake just for kicks, and when I really want to go crazy, just hanging the clutch just so the car does not stop, etc. Despite not being perfectly proficient in my manual driving, I literally cannot stand any car without a left pedal. All I'm saying is, nuts like me do exist in the wild. So manual-in-city doesn't always suck.
