Just to put things straight here. Your title is off the mark... The name VR6 V-Reihenmotor, VW Germany abbreviation for V-Inline 6 cylinder, so named to avoid confusion. The VR is not a 'V' due to the 15 degree angle between cylinder banks. Its a clever design to give smaller overall dimension than an in-line 6 and a V6. The engine in this Mk3 is a 2.0 litre straight four... a far cry from a VR6. Body work exercise is to a high standard. 👍

Das ist ein US Modell eines Golf 3 Gti 2.0. Genau dort wurde dieses Projekt wohl auch angefertigt.Sieht man u.a. auf dem ersten Bild. Hier würde auch niemand die Seitenmarkierungsleuchten zuspachteln. Eine weitere von Spachtelmasse überzogene Bastelbude mit Faltdach, Ventofront und Porschefelgen im nicht mehr orginalen Lackkleid. Den VR habe ich das ganze Video über gesucht aber leider nicht finden können.

The restoration work has been done exceptionally well, rather, maniacal. I would like to make some personal considerations, however: 1) It is not a Golf GTI or even VR6. The GTI has different instrumentation and double anteriors parabolic headlights (as well as different moldings) and the rear lights are obscured, while the VR6 version was built only all-wheel drive (and I do not see any rear differential during the rebuilding) and it has got an six cylinders 2.800 cc and not 2.000 cc four cylinders as shown in the video. The finishing work on the panels and the roof is exceptional, but the the seat upholstery is not suitable. It should have been in the same roof of panels tone (therefore beige skin or beige alcantara).

While I agree with the fact that this particular vehicle is not a VR6, the 2.0L 8v motor was considered a GTi in most regions, the VR6 was considered a GTi in others. In other regions the 2.0L 16v (ABF) was considered the GTi. But the VR6 did not just come in 4-motion/synchro...I have personally never seen one like that except on the Passat. And there are actually two variations to the VR6 motor on the Golf Mk3, the popular 2.8L 12v, and a mean 2.9L 24v much similar to the Mk4 2.8L Multivalve. Free 2c worth of info.

Nice work, but anyone worth their salt in custom cars knows, you never lower a golf to that extent, they just look crap. The golfs in the final pics at the meet next to yours are not over lowered. Point made.

@@christianpeterson2117 indeed the car is a mk3. I should know. I own one. The engine intake manifold is a mk4 though. It could still be a mk3 2.0, or a mk4 2.0, as you could adapt that manifold to both.

Watched the whole video waiting for the VR swap, left disappointed. Stock APK still inside. Cool car, but could've at least put a 20VT in it so the car had some go to go with all the show.
