I just performed this following your video! It really was as easy as the video shows. Kudos for making the video simple and listing the tools needed/ what hardware is replaced!

Working on VWs i have also seen the wheel bearing corrode and separate just enough to dig into the wheel speed sensor causing that to fail as well.

Thats what I am doing on my Rear Right, Bearing is fine but rubbing on wheel speed sensor.
@bluesbrother23838 ай бұрын
@Snakestar16 my bearing had no signs of a malfunction except the abs light show was on and when I removed the abs sensor it had deep rub marks in it, when I took the bearing off the spot where it meets the sensor was rusted and flaking apart and half of the round magnetic strip was missing

@bluesbrother2383 experienced this tonight. Did you replace the hub? What fixed the issue?

should the bearing spin freely or should we feel a drag to spinning by hand after tightening bolt? thanks

I was skeptical about torque on that bolt so i went and checked VW documentation for my 2017 Vw passat. The workshop manual says that 200Nm+180° is for cars with AWD(4Motion). Regular FWD cars is 200 Nm +90°. In this cases bolts are different: for AWD cars bolts have an outside pattern and for FWD cars bolts have inside 12-point socket.
@elagano2 ай бұрын
You are exactly right, for VW Jetta torque spec sheet available on NHTSA, says 200Nm+90deg. Not sure where my FCP friends from a neighboring town in CT is getting this spec from and in such a self-righteous tone, w/o referencing the torque sheets. They should at least advise to be checking torque sheets for a particular car you are servicing, not a good guidance video. I was following it, but going over 90deg felt really sketchy, with 3/4 breaker bar and a huge extension, so I was smart enough to double-check the specs from a third party (VAG themselves) and thanks god I did. Moral of the story: never blindly trust videos on youtube, even coming from somewhat reputable companies. I purchased a lot of parts from FCP and saw some fancy cars in their garage, but after this video, hmmm... I just did more research on this, and they apparently just pulled the specs from front suspension, which calls for 200Nm+180deg and to always replace the bolt, no thread locker. The rear suspension does not call for bolt replacement, bolt has a threadlocker and the specs are different as I mentioned.

So do I have to use a new hub bolt are is it only recommended, because I literally just received my new rear wheel hubs but not any new bolts
@newton2969 ай бұрын
It's not recommended but people do it all the time. The old bolt is stretched so that affects the final torque spec. You don't do the final 180° turn with a used bolt since it's already been stretched

My MK6 Jetta has rear brake shoes. Can this come off without removing that or what parts of the brake shoes need to be removed? This video shows only rear caliper cars.

Excuse me, I have a question, does a damaged mass affect braking, since when I brake it thunders too much, the drum has already been rectified and it continues to give the problem when braking, it doesn't make any noise when driving, greetings, thank you
@fcpeuro6 ай бұрын
If your brakes are new and your wheel bearings are good, we recommend you look at the suspension bushings and inspect them from there. If they are heavily worn, they can cause vibration under heavy braking.

Great Vid, out of interest, At 08:59, That was never 200Nm surely? that was too easy? was that just a demo at a lighter torque for the Vid? Or maybe I just need to eat more calories lol.

What would it take to get that brake dust shield off? Is it totally necessary? One of mine is just flopping around.

Once you have the hub off, you can see the torx bolts that hold it on, remove those and the backing plate should be able to come off!
@At1991_9 ай бұрын
Is it the same process for the front?
@maddogthirteen9 ай бұрын
No, the front is more of a hassle but doable if you have the tools. Look for MK6 front wheel bearing replacement, there are some good vids for that here on KZbin.

Bitte an der Radnabe nur den kleinen Streifen mit Trennmittel einpinseln. Sonst werden die Radbolzen auf Scherung beansprucht! Und dafür sind sie nicht gemacht. Sonst ist das Video nicht schlecht.
