VOLKSWAGEN MK5/MK6 Jetta/GTI/Sportwagon How To Install Plug and Play USB Ports into blank switches

In this video we are going to install direct plug and play USB ports using power from the pre-existing 12v socket on my 2007 Volkswagen Jetta. These ports are being installed into the blank switches next to the ESP button in front of the shifter assembly.
I was not paid to post any of the links nor am I getting paid via AliExpress for posting item sale link. All items came in less than 12 days as advertised which was strange I admit. However I do have to admit they look and work fantastic! The link for both the middle and corner buttons is the same so make sure to order each one for your specific vehicle. Now enjoy never having to use a plug in port ever again.

Thank you so much! And yep it does come with the wires you need. I linked the items in the description and it is all plug and play no need for soldering or cutting of any wires. Basically just runs an extension from the 12v port.

I went to the link for aliexpress but it only have the option for two connectors. Where did you get the one with three connectors?

If I add these usb will it automatically connect to my stereo as my pioneer sphda120 has a usb connection but I’m not sure if this terminal is linked to the stereo terminal as some cars have an aux cable there , do you know if I was to put USB connector like you have will it enable a USB connection for my stereo ?

This is a great question! So since you already have an after market head unit you won’t be able to wire your aux down to that port. You can just do the charge ports. However if you do have aux coming from the Pioneer head unit you can buy the conversion from “ AUX to female USB-a “ a.aliexpress.com/_mMjLp4o after that plug this switch a.aliexpress.com/_mPBWHta into the factory blank and it should work as your AUX.

Yes you will not have to worry about the battery draining for the Mk5. Plugs will turn off as soon as the key is removed.

Hello, I installed the same USB ports on my Golf 4 car, but even though the car is not running, the USB port lights are on and never turn off and it continues to charge the phone. What could be the reason for this?

Hello friend I'm not too sure about the mk4 as I do not have the car. However I know that similar plugs on the Mk6 platform the RED U shaped wire must be cut/split for this not to occur. I wouldn't recommend you cut yours maybe contact the MFR/Seller for help. Sorry IDK if that helps!

Do you know if the mk6 golf you need to bypass switch to fuse box or not

For power? No it’s all plug and play from the factory male end connector. However if your asking for my opinion on the consistent power supply my only thought would be to find the fuse/fuse wire that powers the 12v socket and then add some sort of relay similar to how they power Amps. Hopefully that helps as much as possible sorry I couldn’t provide any more information!

Just the original female port with the new plug and play male connectors then to each plug. No soldering, no cutting, no splicing involved.
