Volvo has officially renamed the XC40 Recharge to the EX40 as part of its new naming strategy for electric vehicles. This change was announced in February 2024. Along with the renaming, Volvo has also discontinued the internal combustion engine (ICE) variants of the XC40, focusing exclusively on electric vehicles (EVs). This shift is in line with Volvo’s strategy to become a fully electric car manufacturer by 2030, marking the end of petrol and diesel engines in their lineup.
