Take your turns slowly and give yourself plenty of room and time to take that turn. PSA of the day.... she’s a beautiful one a little battle damage but good one. Happy travels!

Back in 1986, when I was 16, I remember going to the national new car show in the uk, and they had on the Volkswagen UK stand a transporter syncro, which was like a floorpan with the running gear, and the body, was more like a skeleton outline of the rest of the van. I wish I'd taken photos of it....

All T3 Syncros I have owned had 205 14" wheels. I have had four. A double cab and three buses. They were 14" wheels stock, except for a small number of 16" Syncros that there were only 1638 made. I have had one of those rare beasts as well but sold it years ago. The 1988 Syncro high top I have now is originally a 14" butI have fitted the 16" stock steel wheels with Michelin LTX 225 75 16 on them. This works absolutely fine. The Michelin LTX's are the best tyres I have ever driven.

+Matthew Schurter We picked it up last Wednesday and 2 days later we loaded it up and headed down to Provo Utah for the weekend. Not exactly warmer there but it was fun to head out with Stacey and the girls and take a weekend off. JC.

+Volkswear A long lever (iron/pipe) fixed to the ground and fixed with a chain and auto-body pinch-vise-clamp.................will correct that sill..................just make sure to raise the van as high as possible to increase your leverage. Use a extra-pipe to increase your leverage....couple set of extra hands will also make it stress free. Pull it right and paddle the rest out gently......you'll never know the sill was fubar.

Btw the seam rust on the T3's (vanagons) is a menace that all suffer from with time. You can reseal and use filler on the outside all you want - it WILL come back. Only way to conserve the body is to take off the inner panels inside the bus and get to the panel joints from inside and rust proof them properly and with something durable that stays and creeps.

Yeah it looks like it needed some work , lf it were me l would gut/strip out to bare metal & yes CUT out all the rust , would even renovate ( new interior ) ,check out the Motor (engine),trans etc ....... JC ,can you tell me what motors VW used on the various models ,starting from the Mk1 ( l have heard all earlier model engines tended to overheat going up hills etc )

Really decent overall. They told you that they laid it on it's side? Gee, that's an honest seller, don't see too many of those. I mean it's not like that helped him sell it for more! The bouncing needle and noisy speedo head sound like a dryish speedo cable to me. I'm not really enamored of the color, I like yours much better, but I'm sure it would grow on me. That engine bay needs a detail along with the exhaust fix! By the condition of the engine compartment (as the old cowboy was wont to say) It looks like it was rode hard and put away wet! Probably clean up well though.

+MISTERComaToes The guy lives at the top of a mountain outside of Jackson Hole Wyoming. It is several miles of dirt roads to get to his cabin. Its mostly dust and dirt in the engine bay. If you spend anytime on dirt roads in these the engine bay will get pretty dirty. Its a pretty decent old Camper all things considered. JC.

Most people who know nothing about a vehicle, all they care about is how it looks! I hope you didn't pay very much!

Not a so good statement ! Perhaps no carefully owners till yet ! ?A "Westfalia" from that generation is not so difficult to find in a good condition. Because of the quality of fabrication.
@Volkswear7 жыл бұрын
L'Archonte In the U.S. Syncro Westfalias are very difficult to find. There are probably more clones than original Westfalia Syncros running around these days. JC.
