@kevinbourke7800...Check your rear side vents, they are more problematic than the center drain tube. You'll have to pull off your rear bumper cover to access them (one on each side) they're notorious for leaking. easy fix once you pull bumper cover...also check tail light seals...they've been a sourse of leaks too that's a breeze to do as they have to be removed to pull the bumper cover. To fix those rear side vents silicone sealant around the vent (like VW SHOULD have done at factory) there's YT videos that show procedure.

Nice! I have ordered the part and will do this. I would also other MK7 owners to open the boot and if they do not see the rubber collar outside of the drain hole then they should follow your advice. Thanks man!

Jays Workshop...Did you trim the new drain tube? My genuine replacement tube is much longer than the original tube.

hi, did this fix? just found a swimming pool around my spare wheel, not sure if there is more to it...i know the side rear vents and rear lights are possible sources of ingress also...

Yes the side rear vents are also a culprit but for mw was just the boot one thankfully

I have the problem that when I operate the front windscreen washer, it also comes out of the rear, could it be a pump problem?

I know it’s frustrating you have to be a bit firm and make sure all the clips are lined up properly it’s very important

Friday night I found a swimming pool in my friends boot. this seems the most logical culprit however, his golf, 2013 TDI only has a small bung, round end which is visible but doesn't have a tube connected, its more of plug that is Triangle shaped. Do you think this tube will help or do we need to look elsewhere?

100% the tube is from factory I guarantee when you open it up you will see it lying around somewhere in there lol

I'm assuming a bad one of those would be the cause of that rear door sloshing with water when I open it? I've been trying to figure out where that water was coming from

Mine is like a swimming pool in the boot and water sloshed about and got the rear bench soaking wet! I don't get how it gets into wheel well though as it looks like the bung should be on the outside of the boot seal!

the water builds up in the inner boot if that makes sense and then leaks out

Mate these Videos are bullshit. I had a swimming pool too. And is not caused by the handle of the boot. Your problem is the vents beneath the rear bumper. Water flows from the boot ridges into the rear lights and from there below to the vends. Issue is amplified when car is moving. Under your rear bumper in either side there is a circular seal. Take that off and the water will drain. You basically need to remove bumper and seal the vents for this not to happen again..
