Fun fact: In the first season, in the official match between Karasuno and Seijoh, Daichi decided to serve first while Seijoh had to receive. But in this match, Daichi said that they would receive first. Also, after the first practice match with Seijoh in the first season, Oikawa had said that they would work on their serving and this was clearly seen in this match as the standard of serves improved. It is such an incredible yet subtle detail.
@Chinnybon3 жыл бұрын
Slight correction: Matsukawa uses normal serves, and Hanamaki was using a jump serve back in the previous match (though he'd likely only just started using them, as he didn't use them in the earlier practice match), so the only one of Seijoh's third-years to have picked up jump serves in between this match and the last is Iwaizumi.

9:30 dunno if coach remember this, but "I believe in you" is actually Oikawa's line every time before a play. He uses this to remind his teamates that he ALWAYS trusts them and will give them the best toss and all. And those three who took his line are actually the remaining third years. Is kinda a touching scene that his three-year-teamates respond to his trust in such way. And since they usually mock and tease Oikawa, it just caught him by surprise. And then the next second, they return to their usual tone and start teasing him. It's just great chemistry. I LOVE SEIJOH THIRD YEARS. (Well I love every haikyuu character and combination tbh 12:11 what Oikawa saying is that, the third years are cheering him with "shoyu ramen" which would only be possible if his serve miss so it's kinda funny, that's their way to cheer him up XDDD

The ramen serve scene is my favorite Seijoh moment! “We believe in your serves but if you miss you owe us ramen” the seijoh 3rd years (Oikawa’s classmates) all call out their orders to tease Oikawa. Instead of “nice serve” they list their ramen order “shoyu, tonkotsu and tantanmen” I love the sense of humor and confidence it shows with the seijoh third years.
@MSinclairStevens3 жыл бұрын
12:15 When Oikawa's teammates yell out "Shoyu" "Tonkotsu" "Tantanmen" before he serves, they aren't just being noisy and distracting. This is the continuation of the earlier joke that "We have faith in you. And, if you miss, you're buying us ramen." Those are all types of ramen. That's why Oikawa reacts by saying, "It sounds like you want me to miss." meaning "Are you hoping I'll get it over...or are you hoping I'll miss so you can have ramen?"

Also the other players of Seijoh/Aoba Johsai are working really hard and thinking a lot about the next play. Even though Oikawa is the standout one to look out for him and his team work so well together! They all are well versed players who adjust well and communicate to each other. Mad Dog makes the team hit different when he steps on the court.
@GG-vl9xq3 жыл бұрын
You once asked: "why do people like this guy?" Here's my answer (if you were honestly curious) Why people like Oikawa (first 5 are more volleyball related while the other 5 more character related) : 1. He's one of the most complex character: Even though he knows that his "talent" isn't as great as players like Ushikawa and Kageyama, he still keeps on going. Even though he feels inferior, he still tries his hardest to beat those people. Even though he acts frivolous, he has this super serious side when it comes to volleyball. 2. The moment he makes the switch from normal mode to captain mode, he changes completely. His leadership skills are great. He knows how to calm his teammates, he knows their limits, he knows how to stimulate them to get to their true potential and he truly believes in them. 3. He's a good observer. Can find the weaknesses of the team he confronts and can strategize well. 4. He truly loves and cares about volleyball. 5. He works super hard. To the point of self-injuring (wich isn't a good thing obviously, but he already learned from that. This is shown to us in the scene where he says to Kageyama "resting and skipping are two different things") 6. He's really petty, immature and a jerk to people he feels inferior to (Kageyama for example) but you can see he cares a lot about people around him. He even grew by giving advice to Kageyama when it isn't his obligation to give advice to a rival to begin with. 7. And his childish side, that he shows to everyone, I actually like. That's why I like Bokuto, Noya, Hinata, Kageyama, Tanaka... too. They are all pretty childish. While he just accepts the dark feelings he has and is true to them, the others are pretty naive and a little bit too good-natured to be considered realistic (almost all the time they are nice to people, even if they are jealous) It's a good quality but not realistic in that amount. Because that's not how people normally react to jealousy. While Oikawa is just true to himself: he's jealous -> because of that he doesn't like interacting with that person or helping that person and isn't nice to that person. Also, I find he has every right to do this. Nobody has an obligation to always be nice or be cooperative with someone. Let alone to someone they have an issue with and isn't over it yet (What would be bad is him acting nice and actually sabotage them behind their backs. That would be even more realistic than how the rest handles jealousy) 8. People tend to focus on those small interactions with the fangirls and so on but in his free time, you can actually see how it is only those couple of minutes of interactions that he truly spends on them. And if it was Tanaka or someone else, better believe they would respond to their fangirls (if they had them.) They even fantasize about it. So why does he get so much negativity for doing what (almost) EVERY one of them would do. He just got the chance while the others didn't. 9. What he ACTUALLY does in his free time is coach his nephew and other children. 10. He has doubts but never let's them overwhelm him. His determination is really high. That's why we like him. He's not just a pretty face that uses his privileges and is half-assed about stuff. It's actually the opposite (except the pretty face). He went from carefree guy who just loves volleyball and being super happy about winning an award, to being devastated & obsessed with a person who has more talent (2 at that) -> spiraling -> basically having a mental breakdown because of it -> to picking himself back up with the help of his childhood friend. Accepting the things as they are, but he still does not give up because of it and he keep believing he can overcome it and puts the work for it. Ps.: someone like Iwa (his childhood friend, the ace) wouldn't stay friends with Oikawa if he was truly a crappy/bad guy

I absolutely love the musical motif they gave to mad dog. Usually Haikyu uses lots of stringed instruments but mad dog gets a crazy trumpet flare playing when he does stuff.

34:35 just wanted to say, the timing here is amazing. Oikawa hitting the ball matches perfectly with the background music. Don't know if it was intentional, but if it was, kudos to you coach. Your attention to detail is one of the many reasons I keep watching your videos!

14:17 Iwaizume is only 5'10, 179.3cm, atleast that's what I could find. Though I do agree that his hands should wrap around the ball more since I'm shorter than that and my hands can wrap around it pretty well.

I don't know if Coach noticed, but the talking that Oikawa's teammates were doing during his first serve were actually what kind of ramen they wanted if he missed lol, which makes the line "Do you want me to get it over, or miss?!" even funnier imo

The Seijou regulars were shouting out different ramen names before Oikawa’s first serve, so Oikawa said “do you want me to make it (get the first point of course) or miss it (has to take the team to ramen)?”

So when we get that crazy animation for oikawa's monster serve, they show how his teammates particularly remind each other to cover the backs of their heads because this new serve of oikawa's is his current penultimate technique. It's showcased that even Oikawa, who has normally very excellent control over his serves, actually misses the serve due to the sheer power he is trying to cram into it. Essentially the whole scene of and before the serve is to emphasize how much a monster server oikawa is, and how he's gotten even better

Coach, the reason that the new freak quick has spin is because backspin makes things stop (it makes no sense at all, and is really unrealistic, but like it works so) it’s like if you bounce a basketball with backspin it will go backwards.
@ICavalcadeI3 жыл бұрын
The backspin takes momentum off of the ball, allowing it to decelerate quickly. It does makes sense, it's just not nearly as exaggerated as it is in the anime - although that kind of artistic license is the reason why we watch anime in the first place.
